and

- I dont Understand y some ppl think tht Indira loved to live a life of tragedy / pain and never looked for Positivity and Happiness!!!

Its very hard to answer these questions Nikhila. Firstly the premise of the show and the basic characteristics of the main characters have often vacillated from what they were originally intended to be. This leads to contradictions in the characters itself. Like, for example: The family were turned from flawed regressed pple to positively villainous pple with serious issues like avarice. The dad whom we seem to praise now and then due to his feelings of bereavement on losing Indira, did pretty horrible things to her in the past. So its hard to relate to such a family and Indira in the first place. I cant relate with Rk as he seems extremely tailor made to begin with.

I wish HD had more consistency for me to properly answer these questions without everything I write seem refutable in the end. I can only be subjective in such a scenario. I must say that Indira yearned happiness but she never really pursued it. She was intrigued with the concept of a happy life and felt that she deserved better but her blind love for her family switched off her will power to do anything for herself.

I think the story is very post modern in setting. I remember a case voiced in Satyameva Jayate where a female doctor against female foeticide had been a victim herself under duress. Indira embodies that kind of a tragic figure. She fought for everyone else maybe from a standpoint that she could not defend herself completely. Not that she was unable to do so but because her family was her kryptonite. At the end of the day she was a lonely woman who depended on her family to overcome solitude and thus endured whatever they threw at her. She suffered from abandonment issues. That is where Rishi is supposed to step in, be her strength and help her stop the injustice happening to her inside her family itself and find a better life with him. That is what I imagine the story to be.

The original film(Ritwik Ghatak's Meghe Dhaka Tara) from which HD is inspired, we see the main protagonist(there Neeta) never gets happiness. She is the bread earner and waits for her chance to derive happiness but her turn never comes. Her last cry in the film was "I wanted to live". That film was a cult piece, celebrated by cinephiles over the world. But since HD is a modern rendition I guess Indira would have found her happy ending. Plus the societies and the times are completely different.

I do think Indira placed her family's happiness infront of her own. The Irony is that her family's happiness resulted in her happiness in the long run. If Rishi had ever shown any attempt at abandoning her she might have done the same for him(She marries him in a desperate attempt to see that she does not lose him). Isolation and emptiness is what ate up her insides and drove her to do whatever she did for her family. She was an insecure person(just like the rest of us)who put up a facade to cover her vulnerabilities.

I loved Indira because she was so relatable. Most young women who shout out that they are the embodiment of the so called 'modern' woman and dont take no for an answer, get exploited in their own way but remain oblivious to it. People on the forum who talk about the modern women seem to get aggravated by character differences and so called injustice done to actors they have no relation with personally. Not very indifferent are we? Retaliation seems like the 'modern' thing to do. Dont get pushed around is the mantra but recklessness is often unintelligible.(From my own experience)😆

All of us would like to believe in the opposite but life is not that forgiving. HD promised us a strong woman(she is to her surrounding and to society maybe) but we in a voyeuristic way get to see Indira, a woman broken and scarred inflicted with serious trust issues. We cant see the story or Indira in such a simplistic way and understand where she comes from. Its quite layered and one cant simply tag her as black or white and move on. Similarly Rishi can be explained under the same rubric. 😊

YOu are correct Nikhi... i don't deny this... one of the members i always look forward has been yourself, sandeep, mehnaaz, nancy... you know when you gave me the news that Sandeep was back in forum, i was in office and I was really very delighted to hear that...it was i guess during diwali..
I must say Sandeep is one of the most jovial yet very well behaved members in the forum, I don't think anybody would hate him, I kind of take inspiration from Sandeep and Sachin as well, to behave and conduct such a way that everyone likes you and looks forward to interact...chotte is one of my favorite...and we pull each other leg without ever getting offended on anything...
see you bye!!!

Ankita, I am not that bhagora or on/off type. I am still here. 😎😆

You have penned down everything worth mentioning beautifully! 👏That's a complete esaay, just like in the old glorious days. Unfortunately I am too lazy to write such massive texts today. 🥱😆

And yeah, don't take this as blind praise. I give praise to those who deserve. 😉😆
