"Psst…. Psst…. Hey….. Kria!"
Tearing her hair out of her fingers, she finally looked up from her table at the case cabinet against her office wall to find him lazing at the top of the fourth shelf, munching on god only knew what.
"What?" she asked exasperated. This was getting way beyond freaky. She just had to stop seeing him everywhere and anywhere. People as it is considered her a deranged when they see her talking to herself.
"Hmm... nothing. I noticed you avoiding me." He grinned, cheekily. "I was just making sure you know I was here."
Kria grunted, shuffling through one of the hundred files she had to complete over the week to meet her this month's target of sales. "Yeah, I'm sure it's pretty hard to miss." She scorned at him, as she got down to type the data in her computer.
He laughed. A full throaty laugh, that surprisingly still made her heart flip in her chest. Oh how she missed that laugh.
"I know." he smirked haughtily, making her want to throw the paperweight at his beautiful, invisible face.
"Listen Reyaansh," She warned in a stern voice. "I have this very important meeting with Jay sir in a while and I'd really appreciate if you stayed out of my head."
"Baby, you know it's not in my hands." He said with a slight shrug. "I'm just the ghost of your imagination." He flew off the cabinet, landing on her desk with a silent thud to prove his point. "See?" He flashed his notorious, toothed grin. "But I bet you can make me do kinkier stuff if you just let your mind wander." He winked, making her see red. How the f**k did he always manage to tick her the wrong way.
"Get the f**k out of here, Rey. I need to be in my senses or Jay sir might….."
"Are you sleeping with your boss?" he asked, his eyes narrowed into slits.
"What!!?" she shrieked, completely taken aback by the accusation. He couldn't be serious, could he? And then….
He guffawed. Out loud. For an entire minute. Amused at her scandalous expression, holding on to his sides fighting for some steady breath as tears of mirth ran down his face, which just made her madder. How dare he say such things, humiliate her like that and then laugh about it?!!!
She threw her pen stand at him, obviously missing his giggling form, crashing on the wall ahead, destroying it into shreds.
"That wasn't funny Reyaansh." She scowled, clearly very pissed with him. "And you know it."
"Maybe you should indulge him." He sighed, shaking his head wistfully. "I have seen the way he looks at you. I'm sure he'll show you a good time. Aren't you tired of cuddling your cold sheets already?"
"Reyaansh stop that!" She thundered as she got up to leave the room. She had had enough of his nonsense. She was not sitting through this ridiculous conversation for another second. "It really isn't funny."
"So isn't life." He murmured, wearily.
His cheerless tone stopped her in her track. She shut her eyes tight, trying hard to fight back those woeful tears. She had thought she had passed this bitter blue stage a long time ago. Apparently not. She hated this feeling of ache in her chest.
She felt his invisible fingers crease her cheeks as he engulfed her in his arms. She opened her eyes just to get drowned in his deep golden ones. "Move on Kria." He whispered against her mouth, making her tremble against his chest. "I'm gone, honey. And this…." He pointed at his ghostly self. "This isn't healthy."
She hung her head in remorse. "Y….. You think I don't try?"
He gently soothed the lines from her forehead with his thumb, "It isn't helping your case. Try harder jaan."
"Why?" She drawled, irritated. "Why are you so hell bent on making me getting over you? I don't have a problem with this." She tried to grab his collar to pull him closer but met thin air instead.
She looked around to find him backing away to the window at the far corner of her room, ruffling his fingers through his hair. "Kria please!! You are not making this easy for me. Let me find my peace. Let me go."
"You are a selfish b*astard, Rey." She said, tearing up again. "All you think of is yourself. What about me? What about us?"
"There is no us!!!" he howled. "I'm dead!! Accept that. And you keep seeing me like this will surely get you in an asylum soon."
"Fine! Go to hell! Just get the f**k out of my head as you did from my life. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting here. And you know what?" she barked, as she opened the door to storm out. "Maybe I will take you up on that offer. I'm going to ask Jay sir out! Tonight!"

"Are you serious?"
"Yeah, sure I am." She shifted from one foot to the other uneasily, as he scrutinized her like she had just popped another head.
"You really want to go out with me?... Erm…. ME?"
Why was it so hard for the jerk to believe her?? Hadn't he asked her out a million times already, just to get rejected each time? She sighed, cursing her dead husband for getting her in this state of affairs. This was so embarrassing. And he would be laughing his cute ass out somewhere in hell at her plight right now. She looked around the room to make sure if he wasn't around. It felt weird not to have him breathing down her neck all the time.
"….. so what do you think?" Jay sir was asking, as she snapped out of her stupor.
"What?" She asked, confused.
"I asked if I should pick you up at 8 tonight."
"Umm…." She hesitated for a brief second before smiling at him politely. After all she was the one who suggested this date. "Sure. 8 would be good."

Was she doing right? She walked in with Jay sir, in one of the finest restaurants in the city, his hand resting on her petite back as he guided her to their table. She wanted to flinch, shrug his hand off her and get a good amount of distance from him.
She hadn't been touched by another man in years. Not that the other men hadn't tried but having a possessive bozo husband at her side was enough to drive them away. She chuckled under her breath when she remembered the time he had threatened to rip a man's balls off for offering her his bag of popcorn in some movie hall. He was so adorable back then. She blushed at the memory of her trying to wipe that cute pout off his pretty face by raining kisses for half of the movie. And then they had to leave the hall way before the interval for obvious reasons, to the man's horror next to her.
"You like the place?" Jay asked, misunderstanding her flushed face for something different altogether.
"Yes." She said, cautiously clearing her throat. "It's very nice. Thank you."
She glanced at the ambience for the first time since they had entered and decided she actually liked the place. It was somewhere Reyaansh would have loved to dine. It was exquisite, classy and so….. him!
She looked up to see Jay staring at her with hooded eye, making her feel extremely uncomfortable. She dint want to stir anything with her boss. This was unethical and not to mention crass on her path. She knew this date meant nothing as far as she was concerned. It was just to make a point. But then her foolish husband's ghost wasn't even here to witness it.
Where had he disappeared? She wondered, wearily. She hadn't seen him after their verbal bash this afternoon.
Shit!!
He hadn't really left her, had he? She hadn't meant it, when she had asked him to go to hell. Panicked, she shot out of her seat, stumbling slightly to regain her balance. She had to find him. He couldn't leave her like this.
"I have to use the rest room." she told a very confused Jay at her sudden action.
"Erm…. Yeah, sure go ahead."

She had cried in the washroom. She had called him out, whispered his name for a hundred times but to no avail. He hadn't shown up. She dint like that. Dint like it at all!! She looked at the restaurant's chandelier above their heads to see if he was camping up there to avoid being seen by her. He had a history of popping out from the weirdest places after all, irritating the hell out of her. But today……
"Are you all right?" Her boss asked, eying her carefully. "You seem a little…..umm….. distracted."
There was no point in sitting through this date anymore. She would rather go to her empty apartment to rot in her own personal hell than be here with someone other than her ex-husband.
"Er…. I feel a little sick today. I'd like to take your leave now if you don't mind?" She knew she was being rude. But she had no stomach for her untouched salad. She knew she was going to throw up the second she walked out of here.
"Oh okak, No problem. I'll drop you home." he waved at the waiter to get them their check.
"No please. You should finish your dinner. I'll call for a cab."
Jay shook his head in the negative. "I can't let you go home alone at this hour." He smiled as he handed the waiter his credit card. "This will just take a minute."
She sighed and waited for him to finish the formalities.

Jay glanced at her from the corner of his eyes for the umpteenth time as he drove on the empty streets of the city. She seemed uncomfortable, even bordering to hysteria if he was correct. What had he said or done to draw that reaction out of her? He wondered skeptically.
But then it struck him.
This was her first date ever since her husband passed away almost a year ago in an awful plane crash. Oh the poor girl! He had seen her devastated for months together. She had been a walking-talking zombie to everyone's horror and it gave him the creeps to think what would have happened to her if ultimately she hadn't willed herself to gather the broken parts of her and started to live all over again.
He was so proud of her. She was the strongest women he had ever known. Her zest for life had dimmed but never been crushed. She just needed a new heart. Somebody to nurture it for as long as she lived. And that was the time he realized that it was he who wanted to be the somebody. He had loved her all along without even knowing it.
"Kria?" He hesitated not sure if now was the time to ask her but his curiosity got the better of him. "What changed your mind?"
"About what?" She turned to look at him with her brows furrowed in a frown, trying to construe what he was saying.
"I mean, why did you suddenly decide on this….. Er…. date?"
"I…." She shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "I thought it was time I let go off my past." He noticed her eyes swerve which made him even more curious but he decided not to push her further. He dint want to drive her away when he had finally come to the conclusion that it was he who needed her more than the other way round.
"Umm….. Do you mind if we do this again?" he asked her doubtfully, hoping against hope that she would respond positively.
She stared at him, not sure what to tell him. Yes?... No?... She knew she would wrong him both ways. She looked out of the window to see that they had reached her compound. She quickly opened the door to get out. "Thank you sir. I had a nice time." But her boss didn't miss her dodging the question. "I'll see you tomorrow?"
He nodded, smiling at her kindly. Reyaansh was right. Jay sir was special. Now if only she could convince her heart someday.

Kria curled on her bed into a tight ball, clutching her sheets to her chest as she extended her arm to his side of the bed to graze the emptiness around her. A lone tear made its way down her face soaking her covers. And all this time she had been under the myth that she had dried off her tear ducts months ago. Nature was so cruel sometimes.
She grabbed his pillow, digging her face in it to get the scent of him. How was it possible that it was still very much there? It was like he had lain here just a minute ago. She needed to see him. Feel him around her. Touch him. She howled in pain when her stabbing heart wrenched in her chest.
"Come back Rey." She whispered, praying that the Divine being somewhere up there would grant her this only wish.
"Kria?" She felt his breath on her neck, making her turn swiftly to face him. "I'm here jaan." He said as he bundled her to his chest burying his face in her hair. "I'm sorry to have left you like that."
"Don't ever do that again." She choked on a sob, scooping into him. "Please!"
"Never." He promised, kissing her along her slender neck, as she arched into his invisible form making her sigh in bliss. "I'm here as long as you need me sweetheart."
She looked up to see her reflection in his sincere golden eyes. "And that would be always." She purred as he finally captured her lips with his soft mystic ones.

I know I broke your hearts. Call me low spirited but I found this idea so soulful that I had to write it.😳
And let me clear this….. hallucination is a disease and must be cured. I would never wish for any human to go through it even though however beautiful it may be. I'm sure you'll are mature enough to understand the seriousness of such a condition. I'm sorry if I'm boring you, but it's just my moral duty to keep you'll informed. 😊
