The WHOLE episode!
Arnav & Khushi
NK is right - Love isn't just blind, it's stupid!
[I heartily agree with you, Chum!]
That's Love!
Arnav and Khushi both have messed it up, and both feel they haven't. Yet when it comes to their relationship, they know they have hurt each other - whatever the circumstances, the justifications might have been.
Khushi is sorry that she didn't answer the phone. She's angry Arnav said what he did, but she knows that he called to clear up those very things. She apologizes to him for not answering his phone and for mimicking Bua ji to talk to him (Even though she felt she had a valid reason to be angry with him).
Arnav apologizes to Khushi for being angry with her and saying all that he did (even though he did have a very valid reason to be angry with her).
They somehow are apologizing for each other's mistakes and covering up the past.
Yet, one important detail is missed out - the matter of Shyam is unresolved yet.
Khushi feels she loves Anjali as much as Arnav and took a decision for her health. Arnav told her Anjali was his responsibility and he could take good decisions for his sister.
WIL: 1st August
"Still not aligned!? - The Need factor
Khushi is doing something that she feels is necessary for Arnav's sister - who is his biggest responsibility and need. Too bad, Arnav doesn't think she needs to do that. And, I reckon personally, Arnav is right in thinking so.
Anjali is Arnav's responsibility, not Khushi's. It is also true that Khushi is caring for Anjali because she knows how much she means for Arnav. Actually, Khushi is caring for Arnav's happiness.
A bit of a Rewind here:
Khushi: If I wasn't there, all would be okay. I must go so Di can be happy.
Arnav: And me?
...
Khushi: Would you be happy if Di isn't?
...
Arnav lets go of her hand, but holds it again.
From Arnav's perspective, things are rather simple. His family and his sister are all he loves. His business is what he does. He is the caregiver. He is the sole provider for his family. Arnav loves Khushi as well and accepts her as his wife.
He wants to provide for Khushi as well - but this is one person from whom he expects as well. He expects her love, her trust, her understanding, her presence. He needs her to be there. Just by being there, Khushi makes everything good in his world.
I'm nearly certain that if Khushi tells him that she moved out of RM so that Anjali would be happy, Arnav may be thankful that she considered his sister's happiness above her own - but he might also tell her to leave his sister's happiness to him. He would not allow her to sacrifice her relationship with him for Anjali's sake. He would tell her that he was responsible for Anjali and he'd take care of it. She did not need sacrifice anything - if any sacrifice was needed, he'd make it for his sister."
Arnav needs Khushi to be there for him. He's been restless that she isn't around. He's angry that she isn't taking his calls. He angrier that she's looking for excuses to talk. Yet, when his family suggests that the marriage is broken off, he rushes out to explain that in no way was he even remotely saying that he wouldn't marry Khushi.
Arnav gives to everyone, but only from Khushi he expects for himself.
Inseparable
It was a joke, but yes, Arnav was clean bowled.
Somehow it was so heartening to see that Arnav didn't listen to anyone or anything till it came to the part of losing Khushi that got him to into action. Arnav accepted Anjali into his room, but apparently, he's not allowed her inside his relationship with Khushi. He is not making his decisions regarding Khushi or their relationship because Anjali says or feels something. When the decision does come, it is because of Khushi, not anyone else.
It was equally heartening that Mami Jaan and NK knew exactly what would move Arnav - they know that if nothing works, the name of Khushi works wonders on this chap.
The man cannot lose her for anyone; and if he has to, he's not giving in without a fight for his Khushi where he'd put in all he had. No matter how angry he was, if one talks about losing Khushi, the question doesn't arise, it seems!
Deal Done - Peeling Off!
Hmm... cute sequence! But that ... doesn't that remind me of something?
Let's see!
1. Dadi Ji caught Arnav and Khushi on the terrace while the Phere-a-la ASR were on.
Dadi ji made a public spectacle of Khushi. Arnav was not supposed to be there at the time.
He came in just in time. What Dadi ji meant for the marriage to break, caused Arnav to agree to follow all traditions to 'marry his wife again' - to get Khushi as his acceptable wife in everyone's eyes.
2. The Raizadas took shagun for Khushi, and Arnav was not allowed. Just when the shagun was done, Arnav arrived and stated that he was 'technically' within his rights to visit GH and Khushi. He also showed that while for everyone else, the wedding was happening now, for him, Khushi was his wife.
He declared to Khushi that he could not be stopped.
3. Dadi Ji announced that Arnav and Khushi would not see each other after the Haldi rasam. During Roka, Arnav told Khushi that 'technically' she'd belonged to him ever since their bandage-engagement in the mandir.
After Roka, Arnav took Khushi away secretly, just to spend time with her because after haldi, he wasn't allowed to see her.
He attempted to kiss Khushi, and though it was disrupted, he easily followed Khushi when she took him away from the poolside.
4. Arnav was not supposed to be included during Mehendi. He stayed up for Godh Bharai (of Anjali), but came downstairs for Mehendi (of Khushi). When NK talked about getting permission, he stated he didn't need permission. Nani Ji allowed him, and then everyone agreed.
5. Khushi and Arnav had an argument. Arnav called Khushi, but she didn't answer his calls. Later in RM, he called her through NK, but she refused. When he walked off the poolside, he already knew what he was going to do to call Khushi.
Arnav faked a broken deal through Aman; he knew Khushi would come running if Arnav was going to suffer a loss. She does come through and tells him the deal was broken, but Arnav tells her the deal is through.
Khushi complains that he played unfair. He asks if she'd come to him had he played fair, and she refuses. Eventually, they patch up.
Each time, there was an attempt to take Khushi away from Arnav. The moment Arnav realizes that he is going to lose Khushi, he finds a way to Khushi. If there is no way to Khushi, he invents one. He is certain that come what may, he is not losing Khushi at any cost.
Quite literally, he walks in, takes control, and declares or does whatever he needs to do to ensure that Khushi is with him - even if he has to play unfair. He is catching the people who were taking her away from him in their own words, and pointing out 'technicalities' whereby he is completely within his rights to keep Khushi as his wife.
Arnav is seeing issues come before him, and he is walking all over them. He is forcing his way in. He is announcing that he cannot be stopped from having Khushi in his life. He is declaring he doesn't need permission to be with Khushi. He is doing what she likes. He is following all rituals so that no one may ever say that Khushi is not his wife.
In other words, if tomorrow Dadi ji refused to accept Khushi as her daughter-in-law, Arnav is completely within his rights to tell her that he's followed all rituals and traditions, so she is his wife, and thereby 'technically' she is the daughter-in-law - whether anyone likes it or not. (I'm not saying he'd say this, but he'd be within his rights to do so.)
Arnav Needs to Understand
Arnav knows now Anjali trusts Shyam, and Shyam is still untrustworthy. He knows that Anjali will never 'get well' as long as Shyam is in her life. He knows Dadi ji is being manipulated.
1. Shyam isn't as easily out of the picture as he thinks.
2. Just telling Shyam to walk straight isn't going to 'make him'.
3. Anjali would need solid proofs.
4. Shyam was careful to destroy proofs the last time.
5. Shyam has a good story if he's managed to convince his Dadi ji enough to leave her ashram and come to RM - he is leaning on the 'misunderstanding' theory. Arnav should hear it out once.
6. Someone needs to stay on the tail of this snake.
Peeling off Layers
So what really happened...
1. Disagreement:
1. Shyam entered and there was instantly a disagreement (it's not fair to call that a 'rift' - it wasn't) between Arnav and Khushi.
2. Arnav asked Khushi to leave and closes the door behind her.
2. Break in Communication
1. Later, he attempts to call her but she doesn't answer.
2. Arnav sees the family preparing for his wedding functions and he stops them.
3. Then, Khushi attempts to call him, but he doesn't answer.
3. Reconciliation Attempts
1. Anjali and Nani ji attempt to explain the matter to Arnav. He understands but does not give in.
2. Mami Jaan and NK manage to get him agreed to the wedding; Arnav realizes he was tricked
3. Still no communication between Arnav and Khushi
4. Arnav tries to call Khushi through NK, but Khushi refuses.
5. NK finally dials Khushi's number and gives it to Arnav - forcing them to talk. They don't.
4. Failed Attempt to Break Marriage: this occurred during the many reconciliation attempts
1. Mami Jaan tells Arnav that some rituals are necessary to break his marriage with Khushi
2. Arnav has no such intent
3. Mami Jaan hits him with a coconut on his head and hands him another to hit Khushi on her head
4. Arnav walks out with the coconut, but does not hit Khushi. He never intended to. He'd walked out to stop everyone from breaking the marriage. When he saw Bua ji with coconuts, he feels she too is here to break the marriage. He clarifies that he never said anything about breaking marriage, or not marrying Khushi.
5. Arnav bridges the gap
1. Arnav tricks Khushi into coming to him when he feigns a loss.
2. Khushi thinks Arnav's deal is broken. She runs to inform Arnav.
3. Khushi tells Arnav the deal is broken.
4. Arnav tells Khushi the deal is sure!
There is a very clear attempt to first create a fissure and then dig it deeper to cause a disconnection and then a complete breakaway.
Arnav asked to take off the wedding decor, but his family hastens to fix it. But Arnav never means to stop it; he's merely asked to dilute it.
However, there was something actively hitting Arnav and he was to hit Khushi with the same thing. The only thing that moved Arnav into action was - the absolute understanding that he would not let Khushi away from himself; he was not going to lose Khushi. Arnav realized and caught that he was tricked.
Khushi thought a deal was off.
However, Arnav was merely attempting to seal the deal - and he does it.
A disconnect - but right back together, stronger.
Each time this sequence took place, the scenario was larger than before.
The biggest one yet has just taken place.
There is yet a possibility of a bigger one happening around the wedding - possibly at Haldi, for which Anjali has stated that 'Arnav and Khushi would not see each other post-Haldi'.
Something is obviously bound to go very wrong. But somehow, it looks like this dark could does have a silver lining.
NK-isms & Mami Jaan-isms
1. Mami Jaan: Anjali, why are you leaving the play ground and retreating into pavilion?
2. NK: Jab hamara jhaadoo chalega to koi nahi bachega.
When we sweep, no would be spared.
LOVE it! I actually sat up and clapped!!
3. Mami Jaan: Yeh match fixing to hum kar ke hi breathing ki
4. NK: *attempting to repeat Arnav's words* Mujhe wait karne ki adaalat nahi hai.
5. NK: *forces Arnav and Khushi to talk to each other* Speak to each other as much hindi as you want to -
(I couldn't get the part he said next because of some sound issues at that very moment, but it sounded something like - be hijack! If it is that, WOW!
Considering all that Arnav's been doing [See segment: Deal Done!], he has been doing something similar to hijack! (Hijack means to take control; the situation with Arnav and Khushi not communicating would get out of control when Shyam is around. They need to talk.)
Anjali
While Anjali thought that she was ultimate solution to Arnav's issue, and if she couldn't solve it, it was unsolvable -Arnav apparently has things where he'd not listen to even Anjali, but he does listen to another name - Khushi. (This has been a very old pattern. When everyone else failed with Arnav, Khushi succeeded.)
When she failed to make Arnav realize that Khushi was only helping her, she thought that nothing would work. (However, Mami jaan apparently knows Arnav better. He cannot handle losing Khushi.) Arnav has very categorically stated that Anjali and Khushi are the two most important people of his life. Anjali has herself felt that Arnav was more and more inclined towards Khushi. Yet, somehow Anjali feels that Arnav's world still rotates around only his Di.
She begins by asking Arnav to look at her and see how 'healthy and happy' she is because her husband is back. She knows how Arnav feels about it, but she's made no clarifications. She just lets him know that Shyam told her about Khushi got him back to RM for Anjali's sake. That statement not only clears Khushi's intentions, but also Shyam's.
One discussion with Shyam about moving on and not looking at the past - and Anjali forgotten all about the extreme pain and loss she's suffered very recently. She is as one who is under anesthetic and feels no pain, while they were still under the surgical knife.
I mean the sheer notion of suggesting that - Chhote you should be okay with what Khushi did, just because she did it for me, and you love me. ..- I mean that was SUCH a frog-in-the-well viewpoint. That's the worst case of myopia ever seen! (I might have added 'on Indian Telly - it's just that I don't watch a lot of other serials, so there may be more examples!)
She is leaving me confused. Does she really mean that? Is she that shallow? Is she acutely unable to look beyond herself - not even up to her brother?
I mean - she is speaking Parseltongue (snake language)!! Hissing away gently and attempting to influence Arnav's mind with an overdose of 'Aww-you-love-me and you-know-I-love-you and you-love-khushi and Khushi-loves-you... we all love one another ... happy co-existence'! How much sugar did she put in that kheer!!
Either she is graduated from the House of Slytherin OR… She is under serious doses of love potion. After Shyam is back, Anjali has gotten over the loss quicker than Albus Dumbledore could disapparate. Her current motto seems to be: 'YAY! My bubble is intact again!"
She has been walking as a mature person, and in reality has been a little girl who needs her favorite teddy bear else she cannot sleep.
It would be very interesting to see how she would react when he learns the truth in a way that cannot be denied. That would be a very harsh wake-up call for her.
Others
1. Shyam is yet again decorating home for Arnav-Khushi's wedding.
I don't exactly like this - Shyam decorating home.
2. Anjali is applying Mehendi to Khushi's palm.
There is already a dull Mehendi on her palm. Anjali is overwriting the Mehendi, it seems
3. The chaps who have come in with baskets of flowers, I reckon - weren't they the same who came to fix the cameras?
4. Anjali notices that Mami Jaan is supporting Khushi.
5. LOVED Mami Jaan!!
6. NK Rocks!!
