Himesh Reshammiya, the superstar of Bollywood music.

If you watch Indian television or follow Bollywood music, there is no way that you do not know about Bollywood's latest sensation Himesh Reshammiya. Himesh is a prolific music director who is churning out hits after hits and has set a new trend with his catchy tunes and his "rockstar" look. His latest hits "Ahista Ahista", "36 China Town" and "Phir Hera Pheri" are all chartbusters. Let us take a look at Himesh's amazing rise.

Himesh Reshammiya started his music career with Salman Khan starrer Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, followed by Bandhan. Himesh was first noticed for the superhit songs of Tere Naam. Salman Khan has been the godfather of Himesh and Himesh has high regard and has thanked Salman Khan in multiple platforms including IIFA Awards. Himesh shot to fame with the song Aashiq Banaya Aapne which he sang himself. With the success of Aashiq Banaya, there was no stopping. Himesh won the Zee Awards for the Best Singer and recently won the prestigious IIFA Best Singer award for Aashiq Banaya.

Himesh has become so popular among youngsters that movie promotions have Himesh featuring in the videos. Recently Himesh was asked by TSeries to compose the title track of Humko Deewana Kar Gaye even though the album was composed by Anu Mallik. Needless to say, the title track became a superhit and the video had Himesh featuring in it. While other music directors are struggling to deliver a single hit song in a year, Himesh Reshammiya has hit the right chords with the youth dancing their way to his peppy tunes. Recently Bollywood's respected music composer, A.R.Rehman was quoted saying that he was really moved by Himesh's Aashiq Banaya song.

Himesh's album "Aap Ka Suroor" had multiple chartbusters and he is on a world tour named after the album. Himesh sports a baseball cap, a beard and tight jeans. The look worked and movie producers are lining up to get Himesh feature in their title videos. Himesh was single handedly responsible for the box office success of the movie Aaksar and Tom Dick and Harry. Though Himesh has attained immense popularity, he has been at the receiving end of endless jokes for his nasal tone and similar tunes. But if you follow Bollywood music, you can either love Himesh Reshammiya or hate him but cannot ignore Himesh !! Way to go Himesh !!

His voice resonates all over India. It stares at you in a mall, bus stand and even in your living room. The man of the moment Himesh Reshammiya is all over the place. His voice is so popular that even without your realizing it captures you with its unusual style and trendy musical accompaniment. To add to our craze the hit combination of 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' once again come together to create another musical blockbuster. Himesh Reshammiya along with Sameer leads the group. Producer Balabhai Patel and director Aaditya Dutt give them company. Let us check out some of the musical tracks in this most happening album of the week. As usual the title track 'Dil Diya Hai' opens up the proceedings. Reshammiya sends us to a musical roller coaster ride with his slow moving, trendy composition. Once again the music is a blend of traditional and modern Indian musical arrangements. Treading through new and innovative musical paths this soft beat number engages us right through this song. Reshammiya continues with his high-pitched nasal rendition. The female voice lend by newcomer Himani on the other hand comes up with a low –pitched rendition. The remixed version with its Western and Indian arrangement adds new fervor to this track. The sound of guitar strumming in the background successfully generates a kind of curiosity in our minds. Reshammiya weaves a new rhythm over the next track 'Aashiq Banake Bhool Na Jaana' to make it sound different from his other numbers. This rhythm hovers over the song from the beginning to end. It makes for a nice foot tapping discotheque number. Reshammiya croons this along with his lucky mascot Tulsi Kumar. She on her part sounds mature and confident in this song. A blend of traditional and modern Indian instruments woven over an enthusiastic Reshammiya arrangement definitely grows on you. Akbar Sami takes this song to new musical heights with his vibrant and swift musical arrangements. 'Yadein Teriyan' offers an absolute treat for the fans of Reshammiya. He goes solo in this soft and sweet track. He sounds different in this sorrowful number without his characteristic nasal overtones. For a change the composer Reshammiya makes use of Indian musical arrangements right through this album. The sound of tabla gives a magical touch to his passionate rendition. Sameer's lyrics too excel in the company of his long-standing companion. Akbar Sami's remix version adds pace to this originally soft number. But the original mellow number overpowers this faster version. After the solo once again Tulsi Kumar joins Reshammiya for another romantic duet. 'Mile Ho Tum To' sounds different from the usual Reshammiya numbers. This one starts off like a ghazal and after much twist and turn settles down as another trendy and fast number. This rhythmic number captures our attention with its unique musical words 'Na Na Na Re'. This is one of the best and most innovative tracks ever created by this popular musician. It gets into a groovy mood with Akbar Sami's lounge remix. In this album dominated by Himesh Reshammiya his lieutenant Jayesh Gandhi gets his first opportunity to hold the mike to croon a full-fledged song. Pop diva Alisha Chinai gives him company in his maiden musical endeavor. Unfortunately his song 'Jabse Aankh Ladi' fails to evoke any kinds of interest in the hearts of the listeners. Even the Akbar Sami version falls flat on its nose. A sad outing for Jayesh Gandhi! Reshammiya gives this album a befitting end with 'Chalo Dildar Chalo'. The title reminds you of an old, slow, romantic number with the same title. But this one begs to differ. This song crooned by debutant vocalists Vinit and Hemachandra sounds vibrant and peppy. Another new entrant Himani supports them well in their rendition. Musically it comes close to Pritam's compositions. The remixed version gains speed and turns out to be a wonderful perky sound track. In conclusion, this album cannot be treated as the best of Reshammiya. But it has a number of potential hit numbers like 'Dil Diya' and 'Yaadein Teriyan'. On the whole this album definitely makes for a good hear.

Ash sis I think you got the transalation right - although I think surroor also can mean "attraction"

Badi sis - which show did you see Himeshji's concert on? Was it called Mumbai Masala? Coz we get ATN in UK also (it has just changed its name to Venus)

MY UPDATES !!!

Wada tainu - the music video is out & on air - but i have not yet seen the whole vid - as the have only been showing hte promos of the vid - i've been checking on frm tuesday - but no music channel has ever aired the whole vid

in the vid - i think himeshji is wearing a shervani - not sure - but i cld see its Stole ( it was red colour ) & wid tat a " banana republic" Cap

there is a new " aap kaa surroor" DVD, VCD - it contains 27 hit tracks ( i don't know which all ) including wada tainu - this is where i saw only parts of the vid

i'm getting the CD tomorrow - soo will updat more on Wada Tainu

Hey Jem sis, I saw on ATN special program called Asian Digest - should have a repeat telecast friday or saturday. Hope you get to see it - you will love it.
