I did women-centric films 10 years back: Karisma

While many are hailing Vidya Balan for ushering in the trend of women-centric films, actress Karisma Kapoor reminds everyone that she has already been there and done that.

"Honestly, I think it's (women-centric films) quite amazing. But I would also like to remind you that I used to do that 10 years ago as well - Biwi No.1, Fiza, Zubeidaa and Shakti," the 37-year-old told reporters Wednesday here while launching the first look of her film Dangerous Ishq, which she is doing after nine years.

"So I genuinely feel that a good actor and a good script will always get the audiences in. I don't think it's now or then, if you are a good actor, those kinds of scripts will come to you. It's great that it's still happening," she added.

Directed by Vikram Bhatt, Dangerous Ishq, a 3D venture, has Karisma in the role of a supermodel who starts seeing past-life in a moment of danger. The film also stars model-actor Rajneesh Duggal. It hits theatres May 11.

At the function, Karisma let out a secret yet unknown to her fans.

"I have been in the industry for almost 20 years, but from my first movie till now, I cannot sit in the audience and see myself on the screen. I just can't do it. It's a secret that I am telling everyone today. I always stand at the back somewhere and gauge," said the 37-year-old.

Karisma took a sabbatical from movies after marrying Dehi-based businessman Sanjay Kapoor in 2003. She has two kids - daughter Samaira and son Kiian.

That was her peak
1999 - Biwi No.1
2000 - Fiza
2001 - Zubeidaa
2002 - Shakti

And she was nominated for each film (winning twice)

i dont understand why reporters ask such stupid questions...what has Vidya to do with her...now only its not going to infuse appreciation for her but stiffness towards her...becoz its not what u ask...its how u ask

Biwi No.1 had Salman Khan
Fiza had Hrithik Roshan

Those are not Female centric films to me.

^^Agreed!!Biwi No 1 is a multi starrer movie...with Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan , Sushmita Sen ...and nowhere it can be compared with Kahani or even Dirty Picture.
Only Karishma's film i liked is Zubeida and Shakti...IMO she  is always a mediocre actress...and her sister is far more talented than her

Karishma is really good but I quit don't agree with that statement, Why is she talking credit for Biwi No 1? when everybody else in that film was just as good as her. I thought Sushmita, Tabu, Anil and Salman were all very good in the film.

And Fiza had a big star as well so she can't walk away with all the credit there.

Vidya on the other hand had a Kahaani and the film did well not because of the reviews lets not forget films like Udaan and
Stanley Ka Dabba that had excellent reviews but fail at the B.O. Kahaani worked because of her.

A film like Kahaani would never been a hit if it didn't got rave reviews from audience and critics. Vidya Balan is not a Khan who can make bad films hit.
