About Shubh Vivah

Every average girl in India, has a picture of an ideal dream husband in terms of looks, nature and outlook towards life.

The expectations from the husband are fairly simple ' need to provide security, tender moments of love which may or may not be met.

Shubh Vivaah is a story of a father Mr Saxena and his five daughters. The love they share, the bonds they cement, the faith they place on each other and the dedication with which they try to change the harsh realities of their lives.

Mr Saxena is a doting father whose only dream in life is to get his daughters married into respectable families and to see that they lead happy married lives. Since his wife's death, Mr Saxena has been both a father and a mother to his daughters.

Like every average middle class girl in India, these five sisters also have been dreaming of a perfect marriage. They don't expect much from the man of their dreams. All they are looking for is unconditional love from their future husbands. Finally, the time arrives when each of them gets married and with a heavy heart Mr Saxena bids them farewell to them. How does marriage change the lives of the five sisters is what the story is all about ?

Mr. BRIJ MOHAN SAXENA (RAKESH BEDI)

Mr. Saxena is the father of five daughters. He worked as a clerk in the court in Agra which gave him an insight into the law of the land and after retirement he became a liaisoning personnel. He is very hard working, meticulous and immaculate with his work especially with the paper work.
Infact he is so genuine and conscientious that people literally vouch for his honestly and dedication.
Saxena lost his wife to cancer when his daughters were still young. So he hasn't only been a father but even a mother to his daughters. His only aim in life is to give all the happiness in the world to his daughters. He works hard and earns not for himself but for his daughters. Although Saxena loves all his daughters equally but he has a special soft corner for Saroj - the second daughter. This is because Saroj is not only his daughter but has also been a mother to him - making sure that he takes all his medicines in time and looks after his health properly. Like a son Saroj also helps Saxena in keeping his accounts and also looks after the house. Saxena attempts to groom his daughters well along with inculcating good values in them. However, due to limited exposure, they still lag behind the educated modern women of today.

KARUNA SAXENA (SHAFAQ NAAZ)

Karuna is the eldest among her five sisters. She witnessed her mother's demise at a tender age of 14. The incident shattered her and with great amount of difficulty she coped with the trauma. She gained maturity much before time to become a motherly figure to her sisters. This traumatic experience also made Karuna somewhat cowardly and discouraged her from facing the world openly. Thus Karuna grew up to become homely, shy and demure, performing all the household duties.

SAROJ SAXENA (NEHA JANPANDIT)

Saroj is the second daughter of Mr Saxena. She is tall, fair and very beautiful. Like Karuna, she has also witnessed her mother's death when she was very young. But unlike Karuna, she faced the situation with resolve and became the pillar of strength to her father who had broken down after her mother's death. Saroj happens to be an ambitious girl who excelled in her studies and wanted to be a doctor but after the death of her mother Saroj sacrificed all her dreams and ambitions for the sake of her family. She can't see tears in her father's eyes.
She is very intelligent and very responsible and even helps her father tackle his accounts.

NEELU SAXENA (VINNI ARORA)

Neelu Saxena is the third daughter of Mr. Saxena. She is a chatterbox and can talk endlessly. Her sisters often ask Neelu to shut up, but she goes talking endlessly. She speaks very fast. Sometimes it is very difficult for strangers to understand what she says. She is also sharp witted and intelligent. Neelu has a bitter tongue and never keeps anything to herself. She is full of life and energy. That's the reason for the pace in her life.
At the end one can say that Neelu is a good hearted girl who is full of life.

KANCHAN SAXENA (KRITIKA GAIKWAD)

Kanchan Saxena is the fourth daughter of Mr Saxena. She is reserved by nature. The reason for which is the dominance of Karuna and Saroj. They being the elder sisters in the family received all the attention as they took the responsibility of the entire household upon them. Neelu, on the other hand, had the ability to draw attention while Meenu being the youngest is very close to Saxena. So Kanchan gets sandwiched between the love and attention received by her sisters, leaving her somewhat isolated. This made Kanchan an attention seeker. She speaks less but whatever she says, is very sure of it.

MEENU SAXENA (NEHA NARANG)

Meenu is the youngest daughter in the Saxena house. She is the pet of the house and is loved by everyone. In fact she is the apple of her father's eye (Ladli). Being the youngest, Meenu's sisters always boss around over her in the house. Meenu hesitates to comply and throws attitude but she agrees eventually to whatever she is told. Meenu is intelligent though not brilliant in her studies. Everyone treats Meenu like a child which she strongly dislikes. Like a grown-up she wants to fix everything but no one gives her the authority. Thus Meenu at her own level is battling with this inner conflict that we often find in today's teenagers. Meenu is very close to her sisters especially Karuna whom she treats like a mother.

	MADAN (ABHISHEK)
Madan is the son of Saxena's close friend. Saxena's friend, who was like his brother, died when his only son Madan, was very young. As Madan was already motherless Saxena took care of him. Madan grew up with Saxena's daughters peacefully.

AMRIT NIGAM (EIJAZ KHAN)

Amrit is the has a mother and two siblings – Vinod & Shikha. His father passed away when Amrit was very young and he saw his mother work hard to support them. So Amrit is quite possessive about his mother and cannot bear anyone causing trouble to her. On one occasion, he even slaps his own sister Shikha when she argues with Kaushalya. Amrit is intelligent and hard working with strong business acumen. But ironically, in spite of all his qualities, Amrit is also cursed with a fault. He never follows the straight path. In a layman's language Amrit can be described as someone with a strong negative streak. He cheats his own boss Sodhi who is really fond of him and treats him like his own son. Amrit is money minded also. He wants to have a business of his own to be in a position of grating all the happiness to his mother. Besides he also hates taking orders from others.
