Marina beach is a collage of human life. It is a place of fun, joy and festivity. It withstood the test of time and has seen many changes. For every Chennaiite, Marina is a place to reckon with.

On the other side, we have seen many children selling sundal, horsemen waiting for customers and women astrologers searching for clients there at Marina. Have we ever wondered what their daily life would be like? The answer lies in 'Marina', directed by Pandiraj.

The movie is one helluva trip to the shores of Marina. Though there are darker shades of life on the sands, Pandiraj has taken feel-good moments and weaved them into a movie. After his National Award winning 'Pasanga', Pandiraj has laid his hands on a similar genre.

A group of children, a handful of serious characters and some comedy in the form of Siva Karthikeyan and Oviya, 'Marina' begins well and ends well.

There are many underlining messages in the movie - keep the shores clean, treat elders with courtesy and above all provide proper formal education to child labourers for a better tomorrow. Pandian who played Pakada in 'Pasanga' takes the lead role. Ambikapathy (Pandian) is the pivot around whom the whole movie revolves. An orphan, he comes to Chennai to eke out his livelihood. The very sight of Chennai initially scares him. But he musters courage to face all challenges.

Marina beach beckons him. Ambikapathy decides to sell water packets. His friendly manners win him the admiration and love of young child labourers on the shores of Marina. An old man (Sundararajan) and postman (Jithan Mohan) turn friends for these children.

There is a singer (Aatkaati Arumugham) and his young daughter Annamma (Jayashree) who live in the shores. The beach also witness every evening a lover couple Senthilnathan (Sivakarthikeyan) and Sopana Sundari (Oviya) coming there and spending time.

All twists and turns lead to a riveting climax where the need to provide formal education to children and the need to do away with child labour is brought out well.

Pandian has continued from where he left in 'Pasanga'. The young boy has played his part well. He gels with his character and lives the role of Ambikapathy. His body language and dialogue delivery are a treat to watch. Be it the emotional sequences or fun-filled moments, Pandian brings out right expressions.

The host of young boys in the beach along with Pandian is tailor-made for the roles. The surprise element is Sundararajan. The old man plays a dignified role and succeeds in providing heartwarming moments on screen. Anchor-turned-actor Siva Karthikeyan and Oviya form a vital part of the movie though they appear in very few scenes.

Jithan Mohan as a postman provides the right twist to the script. As mentor to the children selling sundal on the shores, he performs with aplomb.

Watch out for debutant cinematographer Vijay. Capturing the whole movie in Marina beach is no easy task. But Vijay has taken it in his stride to show the beach in a fresh new hue. The busy life, especially the aerial shots of crowded beach et al has been captured well in his camera. Giving him good company is debutant music composer Girish. The young gun has come up with a splendid background score that compliments the storyline.

Pandiraj's vision and message is loud and clear. The movie seems to have achieved the goal. A movie like 'Marina' that is unconventional from the word go deserves appreciation.

Verdict : "Shore Shot" Though at places it sounds more a docu-drama, 'Marina' makes a pleasant watch. In a nutshell, 'Marina' is perhaps India's answer to Oscar-winner 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Director Pandiraj avaroda muthal padathulaya school pora pasangala vechu edutharu now he is again back with Marina with pasanga who are working in the marina beach. This is the first movie of television comedy supersar Sivakarthikeyan fand Oviya is acting as Siva loveer they both come in limited scene but they will make you laugh for the limited scene. Other than the hero and heroine Pakkada Pandi ku thaan romba importance secondly those pasanga then only siva ku importance.


What to Look for ?
Marina is definetly a must watch it tell the life of the kids and they are conveying a good message that for every children studies is importance (Ithu nalla message nu sollura aala paren athanga naan naan studies ah comedy ah edukiran athula ivalo kastam iruka antha pasangaluku shocked intha message sonnathuku apparamum naan olunga padikanom ana enna olunga marks thaan varathu) Siva and Oviya oda love story story sema comedy which makes you love whenever they are comming. Athulayum Siva and Oviya oda break up ku reason irukuthu paarunga sema comedy and super.Warning : Yaar avathu girl friend pakkathula irukum pothu ungaluku vantha sms ah padikaatheenga illai na Siva oda nilamai thaan ellarukum varum becareful di maapilai. The climax make u feel sad and in the same time when you go out from the movie everyone will go happy from the theatre.



Performance

Pasanga (Kids) all the pasanga have performed ambikavathy has the first importance and actually ambikavathy get more scene and technically he is the hero the movie.Ambikavathy given a splendid performance we cannot think another kid in the kid ambikavathy role. Hats off to all the pasanga they did their role very well.


Siva Karthikeyan : He make us laugh in tv shows and in marina he make us laugh a lot. His comedy timing is very good asual and it is a perfect debut for Sivakarthikeyn. He rocked in the sms scene.


Oviya : Get limited role still she did a good job.


Siva Friend : Throughout the movie Siva friend give love mosam nu solluvaru and make u laugh.


Old Man : His expression was good whenver a competetion going between the pasanga he was expecting the pasanga will call him and make him give the award to the pasanga. His expression is too good on those scene. He stole the show with his performance.



Analysis

Direction : Hats off to Pandiraj for converying a good message to the audience. His direction was too good. The story is very realistic but he said in a entertaining way. Every director has own style like that Pandiraj also have one style. He could have concentrate more on the second half because in some point it goes slow but thats not the issue if he has do that then the movie would be come very excellent.

Cinematographer : His job is most difficult because shooting in marina beach with crowd people is not a easy task he needs special mention for the cinematography.


Music : Girish is the music director and his songs was goood and they also picturize the song very well.


Conclusion : Marina is a beautiful film Hereafter when people go to marina beach they will think about the people who are working over there. Marina is one of best movie. Kudos to the marina team for giving a wonderful film to us.

I like the directors afforts to send msg about children and education👍🏼 Pasanga was good and now Marina too seems to be good😛

First of all, hats off to director Pandiraj for a brilliant work and giving us a good movie with something to think and consider about. His message here is well told out. 👍🏼

I was so hooked into this movie 😳 Meli was online so she knew mostly how excited i got over the movie at certain scenes 😆 Movie is so cute, interesting and there was no bore at all 😲 The first 1 hour 30 mins i had a good laugh. Towards the ending there was still something to laugh all and cry for 😭 I loved every minute in this movie and i recommend strongly for everyone not to miss it ⭐️

I am going to talk little about the movie so if anyone don't want to read it before watching it please avoid the below written 😃

A very young small boy Ambika comes to chennai with lots of hope and his first stop will be Marina beach and he continues to stay there. Despite from the disturbance from the other boys who had always been living there, Ambika manage to attract everyone with his positive thinking and always smilling face 😃 He being himself and his casual manner finally wins the friendship of other boys who had been working in the shore. Ambika ways of selling water was cute and funny yet attracted the customer 😳 An old man who had been living as beggar there for quite some time and a postman who comes there regularly turns to out to be friends with the kids. Ambika in his cute way always calls the old man tatta and made that man change from beggar to doing a job for himself ⭐️

The daily life in the Marina beach is well taken ⭐️ Families who come by evening for some relaxing, lover's strolling and having their chats and the boys selling all sort of things like sundal and water... kids playing around the beach.. ellama well captured 👍🏼 Ambika has a passion and wants to study. He works in the beach to earn money for him to go to school. He gets heartbroken at first when his first close buddy in Marina is taken away. What happen after that forms the rest of the story. Movie ends by giving us a strong message and for us to think of things. 👍🏼


🤣 i had good laugh with the lover's sentinathan and Sopna sundari (karthikeyan & oviya). Aiyo semma comedy their daily romance 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I loved their dialogs and how he calls her sopna sundari and she gets annoyed asking him to call her only sopna 😆 The most hilarious scene was when he gave her a big box of gift for her birthday present. She excitedly opens it and it contains lot of wrappers and boxes. Finally inside the big box of gift is 2 piece of idli for her 😲😲 that too he bought the idli yesterday and wrapped it up for her 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣a🤣🤣🤣nd everytime they are dating, he gets sms from his friend which mostly is insulting girls and sopna fights with him for every sms 😆

A well taken movie and i loved every song. I would strongly recommend you to watch this movie. At first i was reluctant to watch the story but after pushed strong by podalanga (ravi)😛 i gave this movie a go and i have no regrets watching it.
