I met Ustad Sultan Khan saheb in a house concert here at my friend's place. He is a genious. He sung many songs including Piya Basanti and Albela sajan aayo and also gave a demo lecture on Sarangi. He shared his experience as a sarangi player in the film industry etc.

It is an unforgettable evening.

Are you in the SF Bay Area? Couple of yrs ago, I too attended a similar house concert of Ust. Sultan Khan - my guruji accompanied him on tabla.

Gopi Kishen was the lead in Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje...

Saraswati Rane has sung in Ram Rajya (beena madhur madhur kachu
bol) and at least one other song that I dont remember...

Ust. Allah Rakha has played tabla in movies. I'm pretty much sure that
he was on the tabla for "naache mann mora magan tikta dhigi dhigi" from
Meri Surat Teri Aankhen...

I loved that Ram Rajya song - -who knows the music director Shankar
Rao Vyas? It is also one of Asha B's favs. It is available on Itunes.

Had mentioned Ravi Shankar in an earlier post 😳 but thanks J shruti for mentioning his other films.

Somebody mention Ut. Allah Rakha earlier who has given music in films in films as AR Qureshi...well he has composed not for 1 , not for 2 but over a dozen films in the 1940's mostly. And not only his elder son Zakir Husein has composed for films even his younger son, Fazal Qureshi, an accomplished Tabla player has made a foray into hindi films recently with the film Dansh for which he is the music director!

Haven't heard a lot about Shankar Rao Vyas...

The only other song from that movie that I've heard is "bharat ki ik sannari ki hum katha sunaate hain" (who's voice was it, btw?)...
