What is it about celebrities gracing shows being aired on different channels these days? If one reality show started doing it, the other had to do it too, and do it better. So over the past couple of months, audiences have been subjected to several celebrities appearing on these shows.
This was a planned move intended to win audiences over and boost TRP ratings.
Now, like its competitor Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Indian idol has also decided to woo audiences by inviting celebrity judges from Bollywood to their show. This will continue till its grand finale which will be in a couple of weeks from now.
After Amisha Patel who just recorded for a Valentine's Day special, it's Preity Zinta who's expected to be on Indian Idol next week. Karan Johar has also agreed to be on the show.
The idea is to flood the show with celebrities and wean viewers away from Zee's Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. But the rival show isn't exactly sitting on its laurels. Sa Re Ga Ma has plenty of showbiz celebs lined up too.
"Our objective is not to impress audiences with film stars. Our focus is on getting those people on the show who know music, like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Subhash Ghai, Priyanka Chopra and Tabu. We hope to get Salman Khan back on the show too. He was a raging hit when he came, and he loves music," says Sa Re Ga Ma producer Gajendra Singh.
As for Indian Idol, Amisha went back impressed by the contestants Karunya, Antara, Panna and Ameya(loooooooool...why do ppl say ameya???😆😆). When Panna crooned the title song from Agar Tum No Hote, Amisha told him that he reminded her of Saif Ali Khan.
While Karunya rendition of the title track from Hum Tum had Amisha said, "You resemble Abhishek. Hope you enjoy the same popularity."
