THis is Khushi's character analysis
It's a bit too long. Sorry.
She has a radiant, heartwarming smile and a gleaming aura. She spreads happiness wherever she goes and she is completely true to her name. She has a fun loving, chirpy, but a little nave with a simplistic view of the world. She in very firm in her beliefs and has tremendous respect for culture, traditions and upbringing.
Khushi is extremely hard working and does not look down upon any sort of work. No matter what sort of work she is asked to do, she does it with honesty and dedication.
Although she has great self-respect, she is ready to swallow her pride when it comes to her family. It became evident when she agreed to work as Lavanya's trainer even after Arnav insulted her at her doorstep and threw money at her. She knew her family was in dire need of money at the time and she being the only breadwinner of the family had no choice but to except the offer. That proves how much she loves her family and that she is ready to choose them over her life any day.
She might not appear very learned at first she but is very intelligent and is a fast learner. All she needs is a bit of grooming and worldly knowledge. She may act silly and immature at times and perform juvenile pranks but it is all due to her childlike innocence and not due to stupidity.
Now the question arises why did she agree for this marriage with Shyam? As for Khushi, I think she is silent because no matter how much she is loved deep down she still considers herself as the 'adopted daughter'. Khushi who is generally outspoken was emotionally blackmailed by Buaji with the adoption issue. She already feels indebted to this family and on top of that she was emotionally blackmailed. No matter which decade it is, such things happen. And it's not just Buaji, if you remember when Payal's wedding was called off, Khushi was blamed for it and Amma herself said that if she was her own daughter she wouldn't have done it. I think Babuji is the only one who doesn't consider Khushi an outsider and Khushi is aware of that. That's why when it came down to Babuji and herself, she chose Babuji's happiness over her own. Yes that rejection from Arnav played a big role here. 'It doesn't mean a thing' acted as a catalyst but she still might have said yes at some point for Babuji's sake.
Now the biggest issue of all is why does she put up with ASR's manhandling? Does she have no pride? Yes, she certainly does. But having pride does not always mean retaliating in every situation. It's not like she never stood up for herself in front of the mighty ASR. She did. She always answered him back whenever he insulted her or raised the 'aukaad' issue. But that was a different time.
So is the old Khushi Kumari lost somewhere? No she isn't. She is still there and her dignity is very much intact. But there is feeling called love that is so overpowering that is surpasses everything else in this world.
She has crossed the stage where she was subconsciously attracted to Arnav. Though she hasn't confessed her feelings yet, she is aware that she is in love with him. Why would she fall in love with a man who repeatedly insulted her and manhandled her?
Khushi is a very perceptive person. She has a clear conscience and she is very much able to see the good as good and the bad as bad. Also Khushi has a very big heart and she is very forgiving. She is not the one to hold grudges against people.
It is true Arnav humiliated her multiple times and there was a time when Khushi disliked him greatly. I wouldn't use the word hate here because Khushi doesn't have it in her to really hate someone. At some point she began to see the goodness in Arnav; the real Arnav who is mostly overshadowed by the rude, arrogant and indifferent ASR.
1. The first time was when Anjali left home and Khushi went along with Arnav to find her. Now this is debatable since it's about his sister. So what if he loves his own? Who doesn't? That's not the point here. The point is that was first time Khushi realized there is a different side to Arnav. He is not cold and unfeeling. He has the ability to love people deeply.
2. When khushi went to buy a pigeon outside the mandir she discovered that Arnav bought all the pigeons for a little girl who was a complete stranger to him, simply because the girl's father was ill and she had no money to buy a pigeons for her mannat. Now who does that? How many people would actually care to stop by and see why a little girl is crying? Even if they do they would probably give a rupee or two and not buy cages full of pigeons and waste ten minutes to release them with the girl. This is the Arnav she fell in love with.
3. The other time was when ASR fought with those goons (I admit, the scene was filmy but still). She realized to what extent ASR can go for her. That's why she questioned him in the car.
4. The next time was when Arnav paid Babuji's hospital bills. Though the exact amount of the bill was never mentioned it looked her salary almost covered it and she only needed a few thousands which were deducted for TDS. Arnav could have just given those few thousands. He didn't have to pay the whole amount.
This is why Khushi can't stay away from him. She fell in love with this Arnav. This is why she ran up to him and hugged him at the hospital. This is why she puts up with his harshness, because deep down she knows, he doesn't mean it. She knows all the insults coming out from him doesn't mean a thing. She allows him to touch her, tie the anklet around her foot and even allowed him to kiss her. She didn't do the same with Shyam. She jerked his hand off when he touched her once.
Why does she put up with the manhandling? Because she knows he doesn't really mean to hurt her. It's his overpowering emotions which he is still unable to understand fully and it simply comes out aggressively. Deep down she understands that. She is just giving him time. She hasn't swallowed her pride here. Or even if she has just a little bit, does it really matter?
Loving someone doesn't mean that you have to put up all the insults but love is certainly far greater than pride, ego and self love. If she can sacrifice her happiness for Babuji's sake, If she can agree to get married to a man who she doesn't love, why can't she sacrifice her ego a little bit for the man she loves.
If she can sacrifice her love for Babuji and agree to marry Shyam, why can't she sacrifice her pride for Arnav? Why should her love for her family be any different for her love for Arnav?
If I may add, Sanaya does a fabulous job as Khushi !! 👏 👏 👏
