lets elaborate...šŸ˜†
is it something the actors generate? or the script? or both? or is it just how hot 2 individuals look together? or is it how cute they look together? or is it their offscreen camradrie, or how many romantic scenes they have onscreen???

Well whenever the celebrities are asked about chemistry they tend to say that it is a part of the script and that good chemsitry comes if the script allows it. I am not really sure.
I think a lot of people, including me sometimes think that if they two people look good together phyically, then it is good chemistry. But I don't think that is the case...two very good looking people can have zero chemistry. Maybe if there is a lot of emotion shown between the two characters and we can feel for the two, then there is chemistry.
I think for good chemistry it has to be a combination between the actors and the storyline..

šŸ‘šŸ¼ Excellent topic! I think chemistry is the off-screen and on-screen working relationships two actors have. Let's face it, if you don't get along in real life, how will we see that come across in the film? Not just that, both actors should look good together and compliment each other well. And also they must be comfortable together and portray the roles well which a director is trying to convey in his/her film. The perfect example of brilliant chemistry is SRK-Kajol, Hrithik-Aish, and so many others! 😊

see my theory is the reverse...
if 2 actors dunt get along well offscreen, therz a lot of tension between them, which shows onscreen aswell, but as "sexual tension" and "resistence"...and chemistry is enhanced so much more when therz resistence..
like i dunt find saif and preity that gr8 as a couple...i mean, yeh they r cute n stuff, but nothing "butterflies in stomach" worthy...and saif and preity are gr8 friends offscreen..
but i find saif and vidya smokin...and they are apparently known to not like each other...
i cant explain too much...but its just that sometimes when two actors are too comfortable with each other, therz no tension/conflict, and therz no chemistry created acc to me...but ofcourse there are exceptions..

Chemistry between two people, in general, is an unspoken connection. You can just see it without having to say anything or explain. So i think its similar between characters onscreen.

The #1 source of chemistry onscreen comes from the script. It's according to the script...what it demands. And it is also what the actors bring to the table and of course, the directors vision.

Script + the actors + directors vision have to flow together. Since its all about connecting on an emotional level and having mutual attraction on screen, every one HAS to be on the same page.

In simple words...For me, actors have to be believable.
I strongly believe that chemistry can't be faked...like, just thrown together.

It all depends on how one looks at things. After all, it is all about if YOU think someone has chemistry or not. Everyone has different perspective.

I think chemistry is created from a combination of the actors and the script.

Some actors look very good together and have good chemistry but are let down by their scripts ie Kareena-Hrithik. Then there are some actors who don't have much chemistry together but the characters in their scripts have so much chemistry between them that it's bound to show between the actors ie Shahid-Kareena in JWM.

Chemistry can come from anything..it doesn't necessarily have to be a romantic scene for chemistry to come through, it can be just an eyelock. Watch Ankhon ki Gustakiyan from HDDCS, AMAZING chemistry...and Sallu-Aish are just looking at each other.

I don't know why but most off-screen couples don't have good on-screen chemistry..is it because they're too comfortable with each other?

*sorry my post is all over the place šŸ˜† It's actually very hard to explain chemistry...šŸ˜†

yeh but see...
isnt it mostly generated by the guy??
u know, guy grabbing girls wrist, pinning her to walls...
guy smoulder staring at the girl...
guy picking girl up in her arms
guy spreading his arms out for the girl to run into them...
yada yada..
notice how its always the GUY who does things...so is it essentially just a good looking guy doing some "intense" scenes that is needed for some chemistry?
because most of the times, on IF, if there are fangroups for a particular couple, there are bigger fangroups for the GUY than for the GIRL...
plus, is chemistry only generated by the madatory eyelocks, trip catch routines...etc?? im talking purely about romantic chemistry here...not the kind of bromance, buddy chemistry tht sallu aamir shared in AAA...šŸ˜†

yes i think so. i think when you are too comfortable there is no sexual tension...it's boring...it's boring for the actors...and as an audience it is also boring...you know they are a couple...you seen them everywhere together...what's new? why would i want to see abhi ash or saif bebo on screen...at least i don't want to see them for chemistry.

but when chemistry works...that is a matter of a lot of things working together... good acting + script + sexual tension + audience excitement LOL! everything has to work together.
