Older men on TV...What makes them hot property?

Hey all,

Just read an article on older men playing leads in Desi soaps...my question to u is ...what makes them popular...with the producers and audience alike?

My two cents...actors like Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor and Sameer Soni have been around the block and had exposure to many forms of acting ...they appear to have had formal training in their craft and ofcourse they are easy of the eyes!

While a lot of newer/younger actors are easy on the eyes but their acting tends to b rather one dimensional...please do share examples if you do not share my perspective...

Its all good..But if they make so much money than why can't Ronit get braces for his teeth or get them fixed?

many indian serial actors need their teeth cleaned or fixed as they are croocked..No braces when they were little..Or no dentist appts to get them cleaned..My biggest gripe abt it..

I think that there is focus on the male protagonists a lot , and seasoned actors can carry it out well, Many older actors are seasoned actors and they can do mature roles well

This is a trend i think the channels and the producers are trying out lie a new era so the phase will click and may be much needed.

Also the crowd watching may consist of husbands and man who wish to see the central character be more male oriented so its a good change and older actors may be a good breed to start with

Simple answer ,their acting make them popular among spectators , i like watching shows only of old actors because they seem well versed about acting and can essay any kind of role where as new comers are non appealing to me and seem untrained. Dislike them.

I agree with you...in indian movies most actors are working harder to maintain their overall look
ie. with weight control, maintaining their skin and teeth etc. But on TV the pressure is not on yet ...except on poor Ram Kapoor! As for the teeth a lot of them are smokers and the yellow teeth go hand in hand.

Yep sure do...Smoking and many chew tobacco or Paan parag or substitute with tobacco...WHich is the cause for yellow and browning of teeth..
