IPKKND and Pride and Prejudice

I have been watching a few episodes of this show and it seems to me that there is some similarity between the storyline (atleast the way it has unfolded thus far) and that of Pride and Prejudice.
Of course, I am a P&P buff so I could be seeing similarities that don't really mean much! Then again, P&P is a timeless romance classic that has been adapted in part or whole the world over.
If the show were indeed inspired from this classic novel, this is how the characters and plot lines map-
1. Khushi, main protagonist --> Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet (spirited and independent and is also the younger sister to a shy girl)
2. Arnav --> Mr. Darcy ( similar haughty disposition, rich, scornful of "middle class" women and families)
3. Akash - Mr. Bingley (In P&P he is Darcy's friend. SImilarity is that he is also shy and cannot express his feelings and likes Lizzy's sister)
4. Shyam - Mr. Wickham (in P&P he is a poor family acquaintance, one who resents their money, especially Darcy. He appears to be friendly and nice as opposed to Darcy's haughty demeanour that is misunderstoof but actually Darcy is the better man)
5. Payal - Jane Bennet (shy and likes Mr. Bingley)
If this story were to follow the P&P plot, then -
1. Payal and Akash will like each other but will find it difficult to expresss
2. Arnav will not approve of this relationship and will counel Akash to not go ahead. Against his wishes he will fall in love with Khushi (this is a no brainer and we already know this) but
3. She will misunderstand him basis what Shyam has to say about him and will mainly hate him for ruining her sister's life (discouraging Akash-Payal relationship)
4. She may initially lean more towards Shyam because she is yet to discover that Arnav is the better man. While Shyam may appear to be friendly, he is actually a grey character and Arnav is the opposite (appears not so nice but is actually good)
5. She will reject Arnav's advances for this reason and this will make him despise her as his ego will be hurt
6. Finally she will let go of her prejudice when she knows all the facts and he will let go of his pride
Phew a long first post from me! Does anybody else see the similarity?

Yup, very correctly put. No doubt, the show is definitely inspired from the novel... And you put it all really well!
Going by Arnav's character, he won't approve of Akash-Payal's relationship. Everything else also fits into the story as you said. :)

Very nice post👏 I love the P&P and IPKKND is very similar and can't see Arnav or hello hi bye bye agreeing to Akahs & Payals love story they will both try to stop anything happening 👎🏼but i hope nani and Anjali step in and help both of them as nani like traditional girls😊 and Payal is perfect for Akash❤️

OMG!! A fellow P&P lover- 🤗. I'm freaking as I saw the 2005 version of P&P yesterday (the Kiera Knightley one) and the week before I was watching the tele-series with Colin Firth (yes I am sad:))!! I also thought that there were similarities in the whole ethos there- the proud man who is actually wearing his arrogance and pride as a mask and the spirited unique girl, who will suffer from prejudice and misunderstanding before finding her love. This has the same tension and the same feel especially from Arnav's side where he reacts with anger and apparent dislike/ coldness to Khushi because he actually doesn't know how to acknowledge his feelings. I like the idea of Shyam playing the Wickham part especially if he is the cousin (this is in other posts today) as that will then fit quite well. Can I also say that just like P&P, I want Arnav to do the serious chasing and also the major confessing first 😊
Thanks for this post 😃

I can't wait for Arnav to do a Darcy and admit how ardently he loves Khushi while simultaneously reminding her of the large gap between their social status.

Then Khushi will give him such a retort that it will break all his arrogance and pride...Khushi has yet to humble Arnav.

Ah yes- the Aishwarya Rai one- I've seen that! Yes, the comic element is good, love Khushi's looks esp and some of her mutterings- lol. Lets wait for more Lizzie-Darcy type scorchers then! 😉
