I don't think I have to tell anyone about the story of KKHH.
My question is that did Rahul ever love Anjali?Did he ever feel for her the same way she feels for him. After intermission we saw R getting closer to A and at the end he married Anjali. But was it love or he was just very lonely and thought there can be no other good companion than Anjali? The most important dialouge of KKHH is,"Hum Ek baar Jeete Hain,Hum Ek Baar Marte Hai,Pyar Bhi ek baar karte Hain Aur Shadi Bhi."Doesn't this dialouge imply that he actually does not not love Anjali.
I didn't get the true meaning behind this dialouge.

This is a very interesting topic, and I have to agree with you to some extent. I do feel Rahul always loved Anjali, but he thought he loved Tina more. See where I am getting at? He always had loved Anjali, but when Tina came into his life, he started loving her too, but it was just as a friend, but he thought otherwise.
So, when he says, you can only fall in love once, I feel he stands true but when he gets to the marriage dialouge, whatever Rahul says before that starts to sound hypocritical. I mean honestly he got married twice, and fell in love with two girls, (one as a friend, but he thought it was real) and other was in real but he thought he loved her as a friend.
The shaadi wali ending seems a bit off, and KJo should have taken care of that, unless he is trying to imply that Rahul's a hypocrite who can't seem to understand what love and relationships actually mean :)

Yes I also feel it to some extent. He loved Anjali but he was never able to realize his feelings. And Tina was a beautiful young lady.Very feminine. So Rahul may have got attracted to her and thought that it is love. But then why he did not miss Anjali that much after she left him.He missed Tina very much.Tina was always a part of him.Only attraction doesn't last so long.Remember just before Anjali's marriage he was sitting with a photo of Tina. That time he was also missing Tina.It was Tina(imagination of Rahul) who gave him the courage to confess to Anjali. So I feel he loved Tina only.
But then what was the use of that dialouge? The dialouge is very powerful but it did not fit for Rahul.

First of all, i disagree with that famous quote
I don't think you fall in love only once and you hardly do not only marry once these days, (of course this applies to certain individuals and doesnt to some)
Rahul was physically attracted to Tina, thats what brought them two together, but eventually they started harbouring feelings for eachother
same goes with Rahul and Anjali, I think Rahul realized his feelings were stronger for Anjali, once he saw her after the transformation
It may sound conceited, but physical attraction (whatever those attributes are, cause they differ among diff people), is a very important factor
To conclude though, Rahul's feelings for Anjali grew after he met her again, and factors such as Tina's death, his lonliness, their friendship did play a role

Hmm..I always thought that Rahul loved Anjali far more deeply than he was ever able to love Tina. I think the "we only fall in love once" was meant to refer to "true" love.

It is not about agreeing or disagreeing it.The dialouge was used in the film by a man who fell in love(actually attraction)twice and married twice. Then what was the need of that dialouge?KJO should have thought well before writing that dialouge as that dialouge contradicts with the film.

Then what did,"We only marry once" dialouge for?🤔
I feel that Rahul was actuallyattrcted to Anjali. It was some kind of lust.It would have been better if KJO showed Rahul's feelings for her more clearly.

From the very beginning Rahul loved Anjali as a friend. He took her as one of the boys and never really saw her in the light of a woman he could love. He sort of took their friendship as granted and so when Tina came into his life, it was something new... something different. She was the way he had imagined the girl he would end up with looking like. He was physically attracted to her and then liked that she was still cultural and all that jazz, so he grew to love her as a person as well. When she passed away, he missed his best friend Anjali but he did not love her as a woman until he saw her again... actually look like one. I think he was taken aback by the change in her, for the first time, he saw her as something else. He had loved her as a person all along but now with the radical change in looks, he grew attracted to her as well.

With Tina it was physical attraction first and then emotional one.
With Anjali it was emotional attraction first and then physical one.

The quote doesn't work and I think my repeating it so many times, KJo was giving a statement, that we think that we only fall in love once, marry once, etc... but life doesn't go as planned. It happens more than once and both of those times you can love the person completely.

I don't understand why people think of 'love' and 'lust' as separate. To fall romantically in love with someone, most of time you are sexually attracted to that person - nothing wrong with it - and that's what binds them together. Romantic love is mix of everything - physical attraction, mutual understanding and trust. Love is not friendship only - it has to go beyond that. Maybe that's why I couldn't connect to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I don't feel it's a true love story *only my opinion*.

Rahul was a typical college boy who thought hormones = love. so when sexy tina in mini skirts arrived he ran after her. well he was seen running after every skirt in college giving them friendship bands 😆 anjali was a tomboy and he never saw her as a girl....she was the buddy who you like hanging out with but come on you don't get attracted to your buddy do you? 😆

but with life he grew up and deeply loved tina too. and thought well love is not equal to hormones. love happens once you get married once since there was no other woman around he could date😆 until of course he saw his buddy who he always loved turn into a woman! OMGGGG she is a girl! I have always loved HER and practically was married to her! If I knew my buddy was a girl I would have ummm changed my mantra but too late 😆

I don't know whatever.... it was a cheesy movie....and an iconic one. over analyzing it is pointless. kjo didn't think that hard when writing the script...he wanted to create cheesy situations and he did ...I don't think he thought thru abt the characters that much 😆
