Gangadhar Rao spoke in English !!

hey guys...
there were lot of strange things were shown yesterday's episode.
Gangadhar Rao spoke in english to martin !!! i am surprised !!! was he learnt english after being the king or english was in his study syllabus ??????

but yes, he understands all english sentences spoken by all Britishers. in fact everybody in the court was understanding English, including 3 behenis, morponth, Tatya Guru , Raghunath, Narasimha Rao(the PM), also Motibai.

i dont know whether all r studied english or what else...
or it can be happened that they were so much used to english that they easily understood the language of britishers ...

then obviously Laxmibai had also understood english. how is that possible, at that time , i mean in 18th century they all were very strong in english understandings.....

I think he got english girlfriend

If I am not mistaken, they did know or spoke English. I think I had read somewhere but someone surely spoke English.

Actually, Raghunath Hari Newalkar was the first Indian royal who could read, write and speak in English, he was also the great uncle of Gangadhar Rao, it is very possible for GR to understand or speak english.....

@ rati yes that's the one who spoke english I know I had read something. Besides there is a possibility they cld all understand and speak the language I mean it was the 19th century already and they were dealing with the British quite often.

hmm.. but whats about Rani Laxmibai....

when did she learn english. in bithoor the vehni saheb alwaya kept eye on her and gave Gita to read and understand...
but it could possible that later on she learnt english, and yes in bithoor also Mr. Manson was there to make her used to this language...

actually, i guess if he understood what the british spoke, then he would be able to speak too right??? so he was able to speak n understand

I think the royal family and the court members do understand English but they just never communicated with it. The patriotism spirit and pride would have been the reason why they refrain themselves from using it.
