Unique song for Shaan!
The starting is nice, but sometimes a bit shaky. its a breeze of fresh air to see a different dimension to Shaan's voice.
The high-notes are nice, it is difficult to keep up with the beat, Shaan has done a good job with this opera type of singing, but sometimes there is breathlessness especially when he ends some of the sentences. The lower-notes are too faded sometimes for me.
However, the expression is captured wonderfully, the sentence sung "Roya Tha Pyaar Uski Baat Per" is alarming and nicely done.
being strict from now on, i would like to give an 8 out of 10, have given an extra mark for the uniqueness of this singing.. it is not the typical bollywood styled singing. overall, a job well done.

I gave pretty strict 8 /10, just because other than being shaky, he did not really "stood out" in terms of sync with the low notes, also, too many singers in this, so in comparison to them, it was pretty average.

I just don't enjoy Shaan songs which are high-pitched as much I enjoy Chand Sifarish or Jab Se Tere Naina. It seems as if he is trying very hard to sing it.

Excellent singing - I can't get enough of Shaan's superb voice! He emphasised the bass in his voice for a more operatic effect and I loved it.

BUT I would have preferred better pronunciation - often the 'n' matras were missed out, most notably when he said 'sunnewalo' rather than 'sunnewalon'. He also didn't pronounce 'khoon', 'khooni', 'qatil' properly, which decreased teh overall impact of the singing for me.

I didn't notice the problems of breathlessness, or not being able to cope with high and low notes. Perhaps I wasn't listening carefully enough. I did listen to the song for a second time, but its soo long that I'm not going to listen again to pick up these little things.

Shaan did a marvellous job of capturing the emotions and he really brought back memories of 'Ek Hasina Thi' from Karz. In fact, 'Dastan-e-Om Shanti Om' is more or less a modern version of 'Ek Hasina Thi'. Check out Kishore Kumarsaab's amazing rendition:

I think Shaan was able to bring that 'rooh' into his own singing, even though his rendition didn't seem as effortless as the great Kishoreda's. Overall, a very competent performance. 8/10 from me.

From Uditji we have another daastaan style love song: 'Hum Juda ho Gaye' from Gadar. Music by Uttam Singh. I love the part from 1:55 mins onwards!

Yes I agree, it reminded me of "Ek Hasina Thi" too.

And here is also Himesh Rehammiya singing it

Its hard to tell who sings it better, Kishore or Himesh?

Great singing by Shaan here!

One of the most difficult songs he has attempted. Nonetheless, he did a great job singing it. Here is a song that required a great amount of feel in it, you were almost describing the story and the movie. And in that you had to express this with your voice. Very tough to do and is sometimes overlooked. Besides for that, there were many difficult portions in the song, specifically the high pitches, which he did great to an extent. I felt he could've gone higher than he what he sang, but he still did a really good job throughout the song!

Good Job Shaan, this song shows that you are one of the best in bollywood no doubt!
