concept and story
Gutur Gu is based on a character named Balu a simple, innocent and super enthusiastic person who stays with his family consisting of his wife, parents and his grandmother. Each member of the family has an interesting role to play, right from being a television addict grandmother to a manipulative and demanding wife. The characters have been chosen from the best of all and possess an incredible gift for pantomime.

The episodes feature a series of incidents and confusions that follow in everything that Balu does, as he invariably manages to get into misadventures. He also has a body builder neighbor who troubles and beats him up.  However, Balu somehow succeeds to turn even mundane situations into indigenous adventures.

Characters
Balu Kumar
Mr. Balu Kumar, the protagonist is a simple and innocent man who lives with his parents, grandmother and a loving wife. A plaintiff with a heart of gold, he not only loves his family, but also his neighbors. Obsessed with his name, he finds it difficult to manage any situation easily due to his impulsive nature and out of the box thinking. However, his optimistic approach helps him battle with his complexes and find solutions at the end of the day.

Cheeku
Inheriting his aggressive and rebellious traits from his father Harpreet, Cheeku the neighborhood kid is "The Menace" and is a true troublemaker and is always in the midst of trouble.
Dadi
She is timid, unconventional, and energetic. Being the oldest member of the family, she is loved by all. Though she suffers from a hearing problem, she could not be shaken even by a loud blast unless if she were wearing her hearing aids. Dadi loves watching television specially the WWF matches, daily soaps or the chaotic, boring parliament sessions. She is very protective about her family.

Harpreet Singh
He is not as lovable as his name signifies. Harpreet is an aggressive and angry middle aged man, who is all muscle but with no intellect. A wrestler by profession Harpreet loves bikes more than anything else, he often make his neighbor Balu an end of his fists irrespective of the situations.

Jay Kumar
Lt. Colonel Jay Kumar is Balu's father. He is a simple yet difficult man. Being an ex-army officer he has his own set of principles which he follows religiously and expects the same from other family members. He is a strict disciplinarian and promptness is his obsession. A man with an autocratic personality, Jay does not have a high opinion of his son, Balu. However, he still remains an important part of his family.

Mrs. Babita Kumar
Though a victim of her husband's (Jay Kumar) stringent personality Babita still considers him as her "Parmeshwar". A loving mother who is extremely possessive about her son Balu, Mrs. Babita Kumar is a typical Indian mother who cares too much for her son and often pours out her emotions to her daughter and mother in-law.

Mrs. Smita Kumar
Smita is a manipulative yet loving wife to her husband Balu. She is a complete fitness freak and is very particular about her looks. She is fond of her mother in-law Mrs. Babita but at times loves to trouble her as well.

Pappu The Maharaj
He is the resident cook who whips up delicious yet sometimes strange combinations of delicacies. Though tiny, Pappu loves to dream big. He aspires to become an international body builder and believe he will one day earn respect, adulation and attention that a maharaj (in literal sense of word) truly deserves by achieving the title. He can never say no to Balu with whom he shares a close bond with. Pappu is smart, matured; sharp basically possess qualities that most of the house members lack.

Good Job Tejaswini.....  It was really nice to read an intro on the characters.  Though Daya's role being an agressive (suits his personality) but I am not happy about he being portraited as an non-intellect (this is too bad Disapprove )
