In all the reality shows singers sing songs which are already ready and sung by other singers.
I always find that most of them mess up important words in the original lyrics and just sing it in rhyme with any word for instance Dhona for Rona, Ajab for Ghazab.
May be this is due to lack of understanding the lyrics or proper guidance while preparing for the song.
Friends is it ok for a reality show singer to do it or should he/she be perfect without such silly mistakes.
Personally I feel a singer should be perfect from all sides to achieve success.
Whats your view???

Well, the ideal scenario would be for singers to remember all their lyrics properly. But often the singers have many songs to rehearse and they can't pay full attention to the lyrics.

Sometimes it is acceptable, I think, if the song has pointless/nonsense lyrics to forget some of the words. Let's be honest - Hindi songs don't all have great lyrics - sometimes the words are just 'fillers' which don't make much sense!

But when the lyrics are well written and add a lot to the song, then forgetting words will really affect a performance badly. These lyrics have been written with a lot of thought and effort - you can't just rewrite them on the spot!

I agree to you but I feel that they are on national television to show case their talents and MD's are looking for new talents all the time so the singers should work hard to be fully perfect.
Regarding many songs to rehearse I say they sing for at most 5-6 minutes in an episode in addtion to the medley and singing is their profession and they are not casual singers so they should be able to remember the lyrics well.
In this cut throat competitive music industry where it is hard to get a break a new singer should use the opportunity he/she is getting with perfection.
They should be guided well by their Gurus to success.

Some times when u forget the word it doesn't sound that bad as long as u continue. You don't remember a word, don't stop put another word that will rhyme and flow with the song but u should always be well prepared with ur songs and try ur best to memorize as much of the lyrics as possible.
Also, I would like to say in the case of Neeti she forgot her lyrics but Rahul carried it off and most of the audience couldn't even understand and it was also hard for her to memorize so many songs because they had two matches in a row(Shankar vs. Shreya and Shankar vs. Shaan) so it was hard for Shankar's team to know all the lyrics.

I am not saying about forgetting lyrics.
I am saying about singing what comes to you and rhyming the song.
For instance Toshi sang Chan Chan Kar Ke Bolti in the Paisa Paisa kya karti hai song which is no where in the original song.
My point is if I look these performances closely the MD's will look it more carefully and will Judge who is a serious singer and who is studios and working hard and is always perfect and will give the singer the break.

Feel in a competition they must remember the lyrics, if they forget they need to have their points cut , cause it is not fair to the other contestants who put that extra effort to do riyaaz , sing in sur, create the feel without forgetting the words
Also, sometimes introducing silly words can alter the meaning of the song, which will become a glaring mistake
Definitely this has become some kind of an attitude thing with seasoned singers like toshi, to use filler words and think that they have done a great job, even if the filler words sound right, it is not okay to alter the original lyrics, just my 2 cents

Hmmm...well I remember Vineet used to alter the lyrics during his SRGMP days and the judges used to appreciate it then. I think as long as you don't disturb the soul of the song there is no harm in changing the lyrics.
But I think Neeti's case was little different. She completely forgot the lyrics and if Rahul was not there she would have went blank. I have noticed that Neeti is too nervous when she performs. After practicing and rehearsing so much I don't think it is correct to forget the lyrics. I mean how many times do we witness such mistakes, probably 1 in 10 times. Seeing that way Neeti should be guilty. Mika was saying that I have done 1500 stage shows and I have forgotten lyrics a lot of times. Well Mika paaji this is also a stage shows but unlike your stage shows, here you are earning points for your team. Giving a perfect 10 is not acceptable. Shaan had a reason to be angry.

Altering the lyrics and fitting it to the song is improvisation.
My point if u change words Rona for Dhona and Ajab for Ghazab is it acceptable.
I want to say that it is not perfect singing. If we hear it once on TV we may not realise but MD's who made those songs will realise once they hear it becoz it is their song.
