What is so attractive about 2nd marriages?

Every other serial seems to have a two-wife track- Kesariya now joins the list with rasaal. Already we have the Tauji having 2 wives- one who couldn't bear children, therefore allowed him to marry another who bore that terrible son. Then we have sajan ghar, choti bahu (by default- though technically only one wife), pavitra rishta (one on the way out and second on the way in), Jyothi (she signs the papers and he says that is getting engaged), Bhagyavidhata (Punpunwali forcing her sister upon the dude to marry).
Man, what is it with men and women and viewers? Given the sex ratio in India. 933. Rural. 946. Urban. 900, I wonder how come one man gets to wed 2 women? It ought to be the other way that one woman gets wed to two men as soon we will have fewer girls to go around!

List goes on... i dont know i thought we are not to have two wives isn't there a law agaisnt how you can not be married to two at some time?
