i saw the movie on friday, i live away from home on uni, so i had to wait one week to see it in theatres cuz i went home this past weekend onli...as soon as i reached toronto, my brother came to pick me up from the bus terminal...he put my luggage in the car trunk, and we headed str8 to AMC loll...i called my mom and dad to tell em that ive reached, and ill see them at home after 3 hours..
the AMC we went to (in woodbridge) was hugeee...and even after 1 week of the release of the movie, the theatre was half full, with all sorta of ppl...most were indians, but there were many white ppl, philipinos, and a whole row of africans teenage boys (who took up the back row, piss off!! LOL)
i ended up really liking the movie...there were many loopholes and if i was to critically analyze it, i wud find so much retardedness....but besides all that...i enjoyed it....the begining of the movie was basically just a filler...but the shukran allah song was beautiful :) once they reached usa, and moved into their new house...thas wen the thrill started..
i loveddddddddddddd bebo's performance...i dont know if it was her best performance till date or not...but it was definitely one of the best...it was very real...for me, she was the most powerful character of the movie...
next was kiron kher...my god, that woman blows me away everytime...she was fabulous in her role...i love how she always gets into the skin of the character and performs it with perfection...
saif was amazing as well...he gave a powerful performance as well...but it wasnt anything exceptional...he cudve done alot better, his character became "dheela" in the 2nd half...wen the movie moved its focus to bebo and vivek's plan....but i loved his last scene in the subway train with bebo...nicee!!
vivek did a good job too...but his fake american acccent made me cringe at times...loll...
the story was abit week tho....i mean....it was more focussed on bebo and saif's love story, and how he uses her, and den falls in love with her, and den bebo trying to stop him and watnot....if they had shown more on WHY saif became a terrorist, it wudve been more impactful...it was just mentioned that he had a wife and son who were killed...but we cudnt connect with it, we cudnt connect with saif's side of the story....so as many reviews said, the soul of the movie was missing, i agree with that too...
technically, i thut they made a well movie...i dont noe too much about technicalities and all...but i liked the different angles the camera shot at...and i loved the zoom in part on kareena's face rite at the end...
im not gonna bother getting into the bad thing about the movie..i left all those in the theatre, and walked out with a go satisfaction...
while walking out, i took a quick glance at all the people in the movie theatre....i cudnt believe my eyes at how many ppl were wiping their tears at the end....half of the ppl, honestly......there was a white couple who were wiping their tears as well...and surprisingly the full row of teenage african boys who were sitting at the back row, they were there till the very end as well...
many years down the line, when ill think of the movie kurbaan, kareena's performance will be the first thing i will remember...
