Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in Anurag Basu's next

Anurag Basu, who is currently busy giving the final touches to his mega film Kites, already has two of the most exciting on-screen couple okaying his next film. After the success of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will be seen in another romantic film directed by Basu.
A source reveals, "Basu has been working on Kites for a while now. He initially planned to release the film by the end of this year and that's why they made that whole Cannes run earlier in the year. But the film has been delayed and now pushed back to a January release next year. Basu was supposed to start working on his other film with UTV Motion Pictures who have under contract for three films and till now, he has only made A Life In A Metro with them."
The source further adds, "Most of the post-production work for Kites is done and now he has started the prep work for his next. He already had a story with him and wanted a young fresh pairing for the same. Basu thought the only two people who would suit the role are Ranbir and Katrina and he approached them recently.
Although no proper narration was given, he simply told them one line of the script and is scheduled to meet with them soon to discuss the other logistics of the film. Both Ranbir and Kat have liked the idea narrated and were keen on doing another film together."
