Why this, why not the Rafi topic I asked you for?

Anyway, yes Lion King was racist. Scar was black and Simba was gay. Whats more insulting to a big black lion than be defeated by a lion who was not even a lion. Its blatant racism.

Uh.. Simba was gay?

And who was not really a lion? I thought Scar was defeated because he was evil. I didn't realize there was another layer of masculine pride or something that he lost.

SImba was so obviously gay. The sequel was all about Simba's Pride. Yeah thats why he was not even a lion. He's a fag. It was all about masculine pride. The circle of life, its symbolic of a male lions assertion and continuation of his lineage. Simba deprives Scar of his legacy.

I don't even get if you're flaming.. but suffice it to say I disagree. We'll leave it at that.

This topic itself is ridiculous. You expected one to actually debate something seriously here.

Anyway on a serious note many critics have seriously panned Disney for some of their thematic elements, biases and prejudicial portrayal of negative characters.

The Lion King: A Short History of Disney Fascism

You can also look up All is not Well in Land of the Lion King an essay by Margaret Lazarus a female African American independent film maker. The essay itself can be hard to found but you can read critiques by the students at SMU of her very controversial essay.

I didn't realize this was such a ridiculous topic. I guess compared to a lot of topics on DM, I found this one quite interesting.

It's a valid topic as far as I'm concerned in terms of cultural studies. Popular culture reflects a lot of social issues, and the links you provide affirm that point as well.

Anyway.. I'm off. Take care.

I got a text once saying crime is for black people, so yeah Lion King 'maybe' is racist, they couldve made Scar purple, brown, grey or even pink. Oh well.
