                   18th August Written Update

In the first episode of Jhansi Ki Rani aired on August 18 on Zee TV, Manu rushes out of the house straight to the akhada (gymnasium) on her horse even as the world is still deep in slumber.

At the akhada, Nana Saheb, son of Peshwa Baji Rao II and friend of Manu, practices swordfight with his trainer Tatyaguru. Nana Saheb is yet to hone his skills, but Manu impresses one and all when she defeats Tatyaguru.

Winds of change are blowing across India. The Peshwa has been exiled to Bithur by the English who are increasing their stranglehold over India. Resentment against the English is widespread. Despite the fall from grace, the Peshwa still commands respect. One day, the arrival of Peshwa at a religious function sets of a fire of excitement. However, the arrival of British troops, sends a chill down the spine of the people assembled. The Peshwa alongwith his son Nana Saheb is forced to suffer the insult in silence.

The incident leaves Manu disturbed. Her father, Moropant Tambe, tries to make her understand that the Peshwa's insult was caused by the fear of the cruel English.

The insult of Peshwa annoys Manu. The frustration boils over one day, when she witnesses the inhuman treatment of stable hand Basu Kaka by Jeff, the nephew of Wilson. Jeff beats the stable hand after he was stopped from mounting Nana Saheb's horse. Unable to stop herself, Manu beats Jeff . When the Peshwa and Moropant Tambe learn about the assault, they rush to stop Manu.

Manu refuses when asked to apologize. The Peshwa is forced to apologize to the Englishmen in Manu's behalf.

Will Manu manage to control her anger against the English?
