I call it somewhat of a surprise shot, because Shifu has already read it...and she is the one who INSISTED I post and that if I didn't...she'd change some things in it...and I didn't want that...so anyways. Here it is! 😊 I personally don't like it much but oh well?? 😳
"You need to understand my view Shifali; it's not a game anymore." Meera told her in a frustrated tone as she spoke into the phone. "If that's how you feel, that's it. I'll talk to aunty. She'll understand her daughter's happiness."
Shifali sighed. "No—it doesn't matter anymore." She silently just hung up the phone.
Meera cursed as she threw the phone down on her bed.
She hated having such a self sacrificing friend who refused to listen whenever she had something to say. She would always put Meera's happiness above her own; like she did with all her friends and by now Meera was fed up of it. She wanted Shifali to get the happiness she deserved.
And if that meant telling Prem to refuse to marry her in order to keep her friend happy. She'd do it.
Prem and Meera had met one day at a cooking class where she was forced into going by her mother who had said no one would marry her if she couldn't cook; Prem was there for the same reason. When they had disclosed these reasons to the entire class both of them ended up in splits.
Their friendship grew from that point on but what Meera didn't realize was that ultimately she had fallen in love with Prem. She had taken him aside one day in class and told him and he had told her back that he would get married to her only if she accepted one of his truths. He had fallen in love with a girl in his high school but now he didn't know where she was and then when he had told Meera her name, Meera was shocked.
Shifali had always told her of one of her closest guy friend's being a guy named Prem but Meera had never met him but now she felt she had committed a crime in their friendship.

"Just come on Shifali, I promise you'll like it," Meera had told her on the phone, trying to convince her to come. She had said the same thing to Prem; now she just had to wait.
She stood behind the large pillar as she watched them get closer to each other.
Their reunion was something you could see in movies. They had hugged and he had cupped her face and they were both smiling happily until Prem's face turned to stone.
"I—I can't,"
"What?"
"I promised someone else that I'd marry her,"
Meera pounded her fist into the pillar and groaned. Why did she happen to find the two most sacrificing people? She watched as they both parted ways.

Back in present, she had admitted to Shifali about being the other person in their lives and Shifali had taken the whole thing in stride; promising Meera that none of it affected her anymore.
But Meera knew there were lies because she was there that night when they had met and she saw the look of happiness that overcame on Shifali's face. It was at that moment she decided to make things right.
It was the day of her wedding already and Meera was pacing her room, waiting for Shifali to arrive to help her. She was dressed in a semi-heavy blue anarkali churidaar and had no plans of changing into the heavy bridal wear.
"Hey," she heard Shifali's voice from the side.
"You're here!" Meera exclaimed as she pulled her into her room and locked the door. "Go get dressed!"
Shifali looked down at her pink anarkali. "I am dressed you idiot. You need to get ready."
Meera shook her head and smiled. "I'm not doing it."
"What?" Shifali asked. Deep down she knew exactly what Meera was going to say because that's the type of friendship they both shared. One could say something and the other would either know it before hand—or else she would take it in happiness.
"You're marrying him. He's the guy of your dreams,"
"Meera, you..." Shifali started.
"You always tell me to shut up right?" Meera smiled. "It's your turn. Besides haven't they said in all those movies, 'Shaadi usse karo jo tumhe pyar kare—na ke jise tum pyar karo,'" She shrugged. "I only love him, he doesn't feel that way but with both of you, it's perfect." She hugged her tightly before ushering her into the changing room.

An hour later the phera's were complete and Meera had deliberately stayed out of the way to watch the wedding with ease. She saw Shifali's fingers clench as Prem took her hand during the first phera. She had even seen a sense of surprise on Prem's face as if he knew he was holding someone else's hand.
As he lifted her ghunghat to apply the sindoor she loved the look of shock on his face and the smile that followed after. He glanced up then and their eyes locked and she smiled down at him and he smiled back thanking her with her eyes.
The wedding ended and Meera quickly took Shifali away to the side before anything else would happen.
"Before you say anything," Meera started. "Let me say something. I don't want you to think I was being all self sacrificing like you always are for everyone. I just want you to know that I did this for your happiness and Prem's. It has nothing to do with me okay?"
Shifali nodded and rolled her eyes. "You wanted attention,"
"Right," Meera copied the rolling eyes technique and they both laughed and hugged.
Their friendship was too strong to overcome something as stupid as little misunderstandings despite whoever was wrong or right for whichever reasons. They were friends and they'd always be.
