Wow, the pressure to perform on the poor kid is tremendous. I was telling Cloddy Bhai that especially for the rural folks a lot of hopes and dreams are built upon one poor little kid.

The Film and Music industry is stil highly regarded I guess. Nowadays every kid taking part must have a proper Music Guru to train them, if not, it is difficult to get selected.

I think the best way to figure it out is to see if they're wearing the same clothes in all of the round two's ;)

They were not! I always kinda observe that, even though it isnt done consciously... The parents werent wearing the same clothes either... But then we dont know if the show producers ask them to change in between, including the accompanying parent...

The judges know some of the contestants personally as the kids do take part in the local competitions too and some were winners. Also the way the kids speak and pronunce the words can be a clue as to where they are from.

By the way, did Maharashtra shell out any good ones?

You Betcha Maharashtra does shell our good singers they just not always win....Most Maharashtrians just do not vote blindly to have one of them win....Honest opinion here....Peace
HariOm ji Talent is around in every part of india....It is surprising that that region is representing from all different auditioning states.....Not much representation from those particular states....
Nothing new about more contestant from NE...Besides talent I think channels have found out which region is more fruitful for them in the sense of Votes=money....Rest is history..
Reminds me of VOI 2 how they even represented from Mumbai, Banglore and hyderabad...I do understand we have people living in different part of country now...but it is just little amazing how this works out...

For Zee SRGMP, I think serious singing talents seem to come from Bengal and Pakistan areas. Perhaps persons living in India can give us a better picture.

South Indians are also superb but normally they do not take part it seems because of language differences.
But generally there is plenty of talents out there.

Summer I do agree but that is not really the case....They do take part in their regional contest...More times regional singing contestants are much better than nationwide contest....Remember not much voting potential in southern states for these shows.....There is tremendous talent in every part of India....It is just that most NE contestants audition for the show...

I do agree with Di here. One problem for music talent from the South is that they are not fluent in Hindi and also has a different accent for their Hindi pronounciation. Plus there are so many regional talent shows which they value more than the national ones. So many either shy away from coming to these shows or are not fully aware of such shows... If Zee starts to have local channels in the South like they have in the NorthEast states, they can advertise for the national shows.

Another reason is that the classical music in the South is Carnatic and not Hindustani. So that kinda makes many kids to stay away from the Hindi music shows. Yet another reason is - all the South Indian states have big film and entertainment industry of their own like Bollywood, and have several regional movies released every year. So they are more keen on getting into those as they are more popular in their region. Hence they dont feel they lack anything in terms of getting the exposure and fame.

Summerji, talents are superb in the South, let it be acting or singing or dancing! It's just that they dont have national exposure like Hindi, so they are not recognized everywhere. That's because Bollywood has a wider audience and bigshot producers - since Hindi is the national language, they get nationwide exposure. But talentwise, South is incredible!!! Very hard to defeat them if there was no language barrier!! Even in Bollywood, many extra talented ones are from the South!! I can give a long list - Yesudas, KK, Chitra, ARR, Shankar, Ilayaraja, Hariharan, John, Asin, Genelia, Aishwarya, Prabhudeva, Maniratnam, Priyadarshan, Kamalhasan, Sridevi, Hemamalini, Rekha, Shiney, Vidya Balan, Madhavan, Arvind Swamy, Rasul Pookkutty, Santosh Sivan, Jayapradha, Remo Dsouza, Shilpa Shetty, and so on.... Not to forget that both Shashi Taroor and Manoj Shyamalan are also from the South!! There are many more, and many of you would have heard about them, though I am not sure if all of you know or not...

Most Non Hindi speaking people have some accent with Hindi-Urdu including Bengalis, Maharashtrians, Gujaratis ETC...Diction can be improved...Singing should be judged on talent and techniques....Plus there are so many regional talent shows which they value more than the national ones. Most singing-musical talent comes from NE region....
Is that a Myth or Fact.....😳😕
It used to be fact at one time....Now it is merely a Myth IMHO....If one goes around and scouts each little corner of India they will find similar talent....To some extent it has been a manopoly and majority pulls...
I do agree on good singing talent does come from Pakistan...Although we can find similar talent in India too if searched with due dilligence...😃

Akku, Shiney is considered a Punjabi since his dad is punjabi😆 Kya yaar, sab ko hee lapet logi kya😆
Seriously, with you on talent part. Bollywood gets more recognition due to hindi being more widely spoken than regional languages. Bollywood can afford to pay more because it makes moolah compared to regional flicks - wider audience base translates into lot more moolah.
