The wedding was over and it had everyone in the family all excited and happy. Angad and Kripa looked perfect. Ridhima was excited and exhausted both at the same time. She needed to take sometime for herself before she went up to her bed. She stood on the terrace with a glass of cold water in her hands, sipping slowly.
Her phone rings and she looks at the screen to find Aditya's name and number blinking. Not again she thinks. She is too tired to have another argument with Aditya over his professional squabble with Armaan but she puts the phone to her ear.
"Hey hi" she says.
"Oh wow! So you finally picked up my call' well thank you." Aditya said in an accusing tone.
"Adi'come on I was busy with the wedding." She tried to explain.
"To which I was not invited." He said.
"It was a close family affair. Only bhaiyya's friends were invited Adi. I did not invite any of my friends." She said exhausted of replying to his sarcastic remarks.
"So now I am just like your other friends. Wow that's news." He put his 6th glass of his whiskey to his lips and enjoyed her 'desperate to please' tone.
"It's not like that. Please Adi. You are special to me but '"
"But your Angad bhaiyya does not think too much of me" he broke in to complete her sentence.
"It's not like that. I will speak to him soon I promise. And he will be back in office in a couple of days. Please understand." She pleaded as usual.
"Alright then." He said finally having made her feel compelled to talk to Angad. He had made sure to sound like t was all her mistake. He had made her believe beyond doubt that he was not treated well by Angad and Armaan only because he was dating her. So summing up he made her feel guilty for everything wrong that he did.
He had known her weakness for him and he knew she was Angads weakness. He played well to exploit them well.
She had said again and again that she loved him but he had not once said the same himself. She was too tired to think of anything at the time so she hung up the phone and stared into the darkness of the night, her mind blank and her heart feeling hollow.
Armaan watched her as she stood so gracefully at the terrace railing. Her sequined dupatta shimmered in the dark, her hair waving softly at the breeze. Her expression was distraught though he noticed. She was talking to Aditya he assumed. He was so sure that the guy was completely using her to his benefit but he had no way for convincing Riddhi. When she clicked the phone shut he walked towards her. She was walking towards him unaware of his presence. But when she spotted him she stopped suddenly and took a step back.
"What is it? What do you want now?" she demanded.
"Nothing" he said suddenly lost for words. "I was leaving"
"Leave then. The wedding is over anyways." She replied coldly.
"Just wanted to see if you were okay. I saw you come here. You looked tired and worried." He tried to explain.
"I am fine and again'it's none of your business." She said.
"Okay sorry! I did not mean to bother you now and I did not mean to come on to you like that that evening." He took a step towards her and this time she stayed rooted strongly at her spot.
"It's okay Armaan. That evening is over and so is this...leave"
He turned around to leave, took a few steps and turned around again. "You look beautiful today" he almost whispered half hoping she heard him and half hoping she did not.
He left not waiting to hear her say anymore and she stood there stunned.
Ridhima went to her room and changed. That night she went to Dadi's room and crawled into her bed. She snuggled up to Dadi like a kid. Dadi's arm came around her in maternal instinct and she slept like a baby.
Armaan drove back home with his heart bitter. He just entered his apartment, threw his jacket on the couch, flung his shoes on the carpet and plunged into his soft bed. He felt angry but he did not know at whom, himself or Ridzz or that B****** Aditya Rai.

Kripa was dreaming of her parents again. They were smiling at her and she was happy in the dream, giggling like a small girl. They were in her own house. Her dad in his rocking chair and her mother standing besides him looked divine to her. Their eyes moist with tears of happiness and their lips curved with content smiles. She felt they were blessing her. And then something moved the image of her dream became hazy; she woke up and realised where she was. Something moved again and she realised that something was Angad. He tossed and turned in the bed.
He was seeing a dream himself.
He was standing on a hill top in his dreams. There was a cold breeze flowing. The buzz of the city was far far away. He was happy. And content and excited. He stared at the cityscape and felt a hand hold his. He turned around and Kripa was standing next to him. Hand in hand they smiled at each other. But far on the horizon he saw another figure. He recognised her from the past as distant as the cityscape now. But she was not looking very happy and her expression was accusing. She was accusing him for not waiting long enough for her to return, for moving on so soon so easily. Guilt gripped his heart and he woke up with a jerk. He realised it was just a dream and sighed. He looked around for Kripa but she was no where. He assumed that she must be in the bath and plopped down on the bed just to laze.
Kripa had woken up before him and had slowly moved out of the bed careful not to wake Angad. She had tiptoed to her room downstairs where her stuff still was. It was still dark almost and no one could spot her sneaking out of her room in those clothes. She did not want Angad to see her in his clothes and laugh at her again. She freshened up in the room and walked back up to Angads, her room now. When she opened the door Angad peeped out of his comforter and spotted her.
"Good morning sugar." He said in a lazy tone, drawing his hand through his ruffled hair.
"Good morning." he smiled back.
He got of the bed in one swift move and stood in front of her. He breathed deep bending close to her. "ummm'. Delicious" he teased and with as much ease walked himself to the bathroom.
Kripa straighten the bed, her stomach jittery with his flirting. She hummed as she cleared the room and walked downstairs to check on the breakfast preparations. She was newly wed but she was not new to the home. She knew what she had to do around the house and for her family.
They were all at the break fast table. Angads phone rang and he picked it up. He got cold stares from Dadi and Naina.
"It's important." He explained and took the call.
"Hey champ" Armaan beamed at the other end.
"Hey. Whets up?" Angad asked
"I know it's not exactly the morning you would want to discuss business."
You must have a lot on your mind" he teased.
"But I need your and uncles signs on some papers. I was wondering if it was okay for me to drop by." He asked.
"Sure. Have breakfast with us." Angad suggested.
"No ' I will just get my business done and head to office." Armaan knew Ridhima would be around and he did not want to face her just yet. Also Dadi and Naina would not like him being there for to long.
"Okay you come by and we will see about breakfast." Angad put the phone down.
Everyone was sitting at the table and Kripa was serving them when Dilip held her hand and made her sit next to Angad. She looked at him in confusion.
"Kripa we all sit and eat and we all serve ourselves. Now you sit and eat." Dilip almost scolded her.
"Thanks dad. Its time you start behaving wifely." He winked and teased her yet again. He served her some bread and passed her the butter, poured her a glass of her favourite slightly bitter fresh orange juice. She was stunned to know he knew what she liked to have for breakfast. She looked at him and he gave her one of his best smirks. She ate listening to the happy and homely chatter around her. The early morning easy talk a close knit family shares. She was happy after all and felt blessed for being a part of them. But yet at the back of her mind she was worried that it would not last. She had a perfect family before and fate had taken it all away from her. She hoped this time it would last forever.
She came off her thoughts when Angad nudged her with this elbow and raised a questioning brow. She shook her head side to side and smiled weakly.
"Good morning Mr Khanna," Armaan greeted, "Mrs. Khanna" he nodded with respect to Dadi and Naina. Dadi ignored him and Naina just replied with a polite nod but Dilip stood up and went up to Armaan and patted on his back." good morning son." He greeted back.
"Sorry to disturb you all." He looked at Ridhima now. "I just needed to get these papers signed. I would not have come if it was not urgent." He apologised.
He handed the papers to Dilip and looked at Angad.
"Come on. Sit down have breakfast." Angad said. Kripa got up and placed a plate for him. Angad pulled a chair next to Ridhima. Not knowing what else to do Armaan sat. He eyed Riddhi from the corner of his eye but she did not look at him. He was getting fed up of this cold treatment. He had had enough. As soon as the papers were signed he got up and politely excused himself.
Ridhima got up suddenly "Hey Armaan, you are going to work right. Can you give me a ride?"
Armaan was delighted. Finally she had said something to him. "Sure, he replied.
They sat in his car and drove off. But through out the ride she was silent. Just as he entered the grand hotel premises, she dialled Adi's number.
"Hey sweetheart." She said deliberately loud so that Armaan could hear her. "I am here to see you. Are you in your office baby?" She stressed on the last word.
Armaan had had it. He had thought she was becoming normal with him but she had rubbed him the wrong way. He parked the car with a jolt and pulled his keys off the ignition. Ridhima stepped out of the car and looked at him to see the effect of her actions but Armaan had already turned his back to her and was walking towards the entrance.
He was seething with anger when he entered his office. He threw his jacket on the couch and his brief case on the chair. He loved Ridhima but he had self respect. He would not try to make amends with her any more. To hell with her he thought. She is a big girl and she can take care of her life he told himself. She was right all the way it was none of his damn business. And he would make sure he completely stayed away from her and her business.
