99 is a fast-paced action comedy filled with a lot of fun and humour. It's a very slick film which I think is very original. Both the directors are from America and they have added clarity to the movie. The film is set in Delhi.
What role do you play in the movie?
My directors' assumption was that, in Delhi, girls are mostly named Pooja or Neha. In the film, my character Pooja is a fashion freak. She pays a lot of attention to maintaining her figure, in spite of working in a hotel. She is outspoken and fearless. The other two characters, played by Cyrus and Kunal, come in my way and each time they do so I get involved in their trouble. Together, we have to find a solution.
It defines the film in a way because the characters always get stuck on 99. They never make it to a hundred in any field, figuratively.
Comedy is very difficult to do because you have to deliver the dialogue right. Getting the comic timing down is very tough. It's easier to learn drama than comedy.
It was very difficult to work with Cyrus. Once he arrives on the sets, no one can get any work done. He will just talk non-stop and never let his costars work. He cracks jokes all the time and just when you think he is done, he will bombard you with another one. He is full of energy and a very funny man. As for my other costars, working with Boman was great. I have a very short appearance with Vinod Khannaji but whenever I stood near him, I would forget to breathe! I have grown up watching his films and am in awe of his stature and personality. I have worked with Kunal Khemu earlier and I think he has what an actor needs to have. He can dance well, does comedy well and is a great costar. Overall, it was a great team which I enjoyed working with thoroughly.
I am very proud of the fact that India is a democratic country. We have our freedom and everyone has the right to choose the right candidate to vote for. Let's see, I am looking forward to it.
