Lovely interaction all throughout exchanging congratulations & good wishes, this is how an ideal family ought to be like. At times like this we miss having a big family under the same roof but u have made every1 so lovable that everybody would want to be adopted by the Junejas. 😃 Loved the interactions & fun between all of them. I agree...we don't get to see families like this at all and that's why I like to write about it...makes me feel good...😃 I would want to be adopted by the Junejas...🤓 For research purposes...u know....😆

Oh, so finally the Atul fans were looked upon with kindness? So he went & bought a big house, I wonder why when he knew he will remain single with his dad all along? Just because he fell in love with the house, he is a romantic at heart though he refuses to acknowledge it & doesn't want to let anybody in on him as well! The house spoke to him, nice, very nice! So its his own little haven to himself, away far from the madding crowd! Ah yes...eat ur heart out!! 😆 He did...and he is a romantic at heart, but hates to admit it!! 😃
One thing Sanjana & Meher is very alike in many respects. So my query is if Sanjana hated that big house won't Meher will too? In future she too will be all alone in that house when he won't be around & unless & until she has quite a few number of kids to fill the house with some mayhem bringing it alive! Just a thought! Oooh, it was not the house that Sanjana was against, it was because Harman et al had left and she was missing them and taking out her frustration on the house....😆 Ah, as for Meher...why do you think she will be at home? She could go work for him no? And u'll have to read more about them to find out!!

Balbir is happy I could make out, ofcourse he will be getting a gem of a guy like Harman as SIL & also to get the Junejas as her daughter's family, what more could he ask for!! But I could see Atul is thrown off a little with surprise but was he happy with his sister's choice? I think he will be but knowing him he won't be over enthusiastic to show it I think. In his own quiet way he will be happy & will congratulate his sister pulling her leg! My thoughts but maybe I am wrong. Balbir was happy...and Atul was surprised, that's all. I am sure he is very happy too and keep reading to see what he does!! 😃

And finally some insight of him, ahh, a tinge of guilt, a tinge of respect, a tinge of admiration for that one person who had snubbed him & put him in his place. Specially someone so young to him so casually & clearly summed him up in one sentence, definitely will stun him to no ends even if he doesn't admit this. But I liked how he thought of apologising to her when he meets her next. Very gentleman like! Like him for that. Yeah 'like' him because I reserve 'love' only for one person. 😃 Laugh & sneer as much as u like. Yes, you got all his reactions right. Of course he is a gentleman....😉 and one who admits his mistakes...see? Yeah I get it Lana...😉 *sheesh*

Wonderful update like always. So will the Tandons be down to B'bay in Friday update? When is the wedding? Looking forward to it. Will anything noticeable happen between u know who? Or u have kept everything stored for future? Knowing u, u will make the apologising segment no big deal. Or r u going to astonish us as usual? 😃 Will w&w.

Chapter 70

Weddings and the events leading up to it were best enjoyed when it was someone else's, Heer decided. And there were definitely a lot of things going on at home, ever since Harman and Sanjana had announced their decision to marry, a couple weeks ago. Lalit and Gayatri were over the moon, especially with the fact that Sanjana was practically like a daughter to them already without the added bonus of soon-to-be their son's wife. The marriage was due to be held in two months time. Earlier even, if Gayatri had had her way. But it was surprisingly, Sanjana who had asked for the slight delay. She and Ash were still in the process of setting up their store and Sanjana had wanted it over and done with before taking on her role as Harman's wife. Personally, Heer thought that it was a good thing too. There had been a marked improvement in the Sanjana of today and that of the lost waif she had been, on her first arrival to Mumbai. The thought her own business seemed to have instilled self worth and the fact that Harman loved her was just icing on the cake.

As always, Lalit and Gayatri were eager and willing to celebrate their happiness with everyone, deciding to invite a close friends and family for dinner. Balbir and Atul were not due to arrive until a few weeks before the wedding, so they had decided to keep it small, leaving the larger gathering for later. Lalit, however, had to curb his enthusiasm to rush to throw another party for two different reasons. For one, Meher had to take her tests, which she had done last week, passing with flying colors. Her scores were likely to get her accepted wherever she wanted to study, Prem had said. And the second reason for postponing the party was the fact that Prem himself, had to leave for London on some urgent business and was due back any moment now.

Heer mingled with the guests, stopping for a moment to talk to everyone. Although the names and faces were familiar, it was still going to take her a little while to get used to this, she thought.

"Heer beta," Gayatri came up to her. "I want you to meet Chitra Goyal, a very good friend of mine." The woman who accompanied her had a very kind face, with hair that was completely grey. She wore one of those long salwar kurtas, looking stylishly elegant.

"Don't go by my hair," she said, laughing. "I am not really that old."

Heer smiled, instantly liking her. "The thought never crossed my mind." She had never seen her before. "You weren't at our wedding?" Gayatri was called away, while Chitra went on to explain that she had been visiting her daughter in the US and had not been able to make it. Heer found out that the Goyals had lived in Canada, before moving back to Mumbai about five years ago and was, surprised to learn, also on the school trust board, with Lalit.

"You are still working at the school?" Chitra asked, sounding a little surprised. "How do you like it so far?"

Heer went on to explain how much she loved it there, especially working with the younger kids. Only thing she did not admit was the distinct cooling off in the way the rest of the staff were treating her. They were nothing but courteous and polite, a little too much perhaps. There had been one too many incidents, when conversations had stopped upon her arrival, to be ignored. On hindsight, she supposed she did see why they could be wary of her presence. It did seem odd, what with her being married to Lalit's son and with no real need to work, she half suspected that everyone assumed her to be sent to spy on them.

"It was really nice to finally meet you," Chitra said. "And I think I need to spare you for your other guests too."

"Please don't," Heer said reaching out to touch her arm. "I really enjoyed talking to you."

The other woman laughed. "You are either too nice or a good liar." She looked around and dropped her voice to a whisper. "Most people avoid me for I am always asking them to make a donation to the school, you know."

"Then they don't know what they are missing," she said loyally, knowing full well that it was people like her that managed to provide decent education to the children who couldn't afford it. It was people like her who provided hope to the hundreds of parents who believed that their children would make something of themselves and rise above the rut of poverty.

Chitra seemed touched. "We should get together for lunch sometime," she said. "I think we need to make a few changes at the school and would love to hear your ideas."

"But...I don't know anything." Heer couldn't possibly think what she could contribute.

"The trouble with today's generation is that they don't nearly have enough faith in their abilities," she retorted with a smile and pulled out something from her purse. "Call me."

Heer watched as Chitra walked away, while half formed thoughts stirred in her mind and decided that there was no harm in meeting her for lunch one day. She glanced up at the clock and for the hundredth time wondered where he was.

Prem let out a groan when he saw the cars parked in front of the brightly lit house, the people spilling out on to the lawns and remembered that there was a party on tonight. The lack of sleep over the last week seemed to be catching up with him, putting him in a filthy mood. Making his way across the deserted hallway, Prem went upstairs in dire need of a shower and strong coffee to get him through the next few hours. If it were a question of priorities, he would have said that needing to see his wife came before all. But sadly that was going to have to wait.

Prem dumped his carry on bag on the floor and pulled the t-shirt over his head as he headed to the bathroom for a shower. The steaming hot water felt good, soothing the tense muscles on the back of his neck. He did not dally, and got out quickly, albeit with great reluctance. He was pulling on his shirt, when he heard her call. "Prem....?"

He slowly walked out of the dressing room to see Heer placing a mug on the low table. Prem did not think he had seen a more beautiful sight when she straightened and turned to him.

"I brought you some coffee," she said, smiling and walking towards him. She wore a pale green saree that shimmered when she moved. "Everyone is waiting for you downstairs." He wanted to ask her, how she had known, to find him and to know what he wanted.

"And were you waiting for me?" Her eyes were such giveaways, Prem thought, as he saw them flicker to his lips. When she got close enough, he slipped his arms around her to draw her close, while she rested her hands on his chest.
