I was wondering, why do the people in serials wear Chuda? I mean I know its some custom for SIkh brides but what is the purpose of it? Do you have to be Sikh to wear them? I mean because lots of people in the serials are wearing them.... they ALL cant be Punjabi can they?

Heres a pic if you dont get what I mean!😉 I love the one with the names, they should change it to Saloni and Nahar!😆😳

No, u dont hv to be a Sikh to wear Choodha.

It is essentially a Punjabi ritual, where the maternal uncle makes the bride wear the Choodha on the day of the wedding!

Forget these silly serials, these girls wear Choodha as a fashion statement because it looks good with a Bridal lehenga!.

Here is some info i found:
The oldest maternal uncle and aunt play an important role in the performance of the ceremony. They fast till the event is completed. Chuda is basically a set of red and cream ivory bangles that is touched by all present. People touch the chuda and give their heartiest wishes to the girl for her future married life.

P.S. I am NOT getting married any time soon, just curious as to why ppl wear it and do you have to, etc.
