It took a Subhash Ghai to achieve that. He has just been able to avert a showdown between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. But this time it was not in real life but at the box office. Both Yuvvraaj and Billoo Barber were scheduled to release on November 21. But now SRK's film has been pushed to early next year.
It is reported that Ghai personally called SRK to check on the release date of his movie as SRK is believed to have pushed back the release of his film from November 7 to November 21. Ghai rightly felt that it did not make sense for both films to clash at the box office and eat into each other's profits. SRK is believed to have responded magnanimously and reacted positively to Ghai's request. After all, the two have worked together in quite a few films. SRK was a part of Ghai's Trimurti and Pardes. Hence, now the buzz is that Billoo Barber has been pushed to next year, leaving the field open for Yuvvraaj. There are other reasons as well for SRK wanting to delay Billoo Barber. It gives the films of his friends, like Karan Johar's Dostana and Aditya Chopra's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi some breathing space at the box office. It hardly makes sense for SRK to compete with his own film he is the hero of Adi's film. The dismal show of the Tamil film Kuselan, which is a Tamil remake of Billoo Barber, is also said to be behind the decision to delay the release of Billoo Barber. Both films, Kuselan and Billoo Barber are remakes of a Malayalam film. Priyadarshan, the director of SRK's film, plans to make some chan ges in the movie. Hence, the delay actually suits SRK and company.
