Its nothing wrong in what you have just said. I wrote what I knew and whatever you wrote is something new to me. Thanks Eljay for the latest info to add on to my list.. 😆

Luckily this is not practised or seen amongst our ppl here or back in Kerala where my root lies. My salary is mine and my hubby doesn't even query about it - my in-laws never budge into our business. All my sisters-in-laws who are working mothers too are never bothered by our in-laws. 👏

I was surprised when councillor Kanchana told her son that whatever earnings Bhuvana brings home belongs to them and that without their consent she is not even to give a dime to her parents. Bhuvana is married into that family that doesn't mean she is sold to them. Besides the dowry system too is like buying husband for their daughters. 😡

I think this kind of practice is carried down for centuries and it should be eradicated from our society with immediate effect. Its simply is ridiculous and absurd. 😭

Sue akka, i really doubt if this will ever be eradicated..and as eljay if both parents and in-laws are in the same place then, we must first get the permission from in-laws(both of them) to go to parents house..and that too not a day more they will allow them to stay in their parents house..and are never allowed to stay in siblings house..and if they want to see us, they have to come to in-laws house..wish akka as u said this systems gets eradicated soon..

Aiyoo...this is really a torture...how can they do this? But in Kasthuri Thanam and hubby have spent a couple of days in her dad's home - it was definitely not a flying visit..My tamil frens do go and stay in their parents home even during Diwali or Ponggol. They just tell their in-laws that they are going over to her parents place for a few days. There is no such thing as getting their approval first. 😡

Anyway most of them are staying on their own and not with their in-laws. I think in certain parts of India (esp.in remote areas) they are purposely imposing such laws according to their whims and fancies. In PVPV - the title song says that both the homes are like our two eyes.....meaning equal status for both..!!😆

I would have started a 3rd World War if I am not allowed home whenever I wish to do so.....😆😆
