shubba ka, I meant the number pi .. for me, richard parker represents the animal side of him in the first story. when his mother was attacked, the tiger comes out of him and kills the cook. he also needed that side in order to survive the horrific reality, but he had to keep it under control. another reason for believing parker as an extension / another side of pi is the chruch scene where he was offered water .. "u must be thirsty" and thirsty was richard parker's real name. I see them as one .. they had to live together, but his animal side had to be trained. when richard parker leaves, he's no longer needed in pi's life but he still wants it to be a part of him (??). when he tells both stories to others, they believe the tiger story because "sacrificing the innocent for guilty" is what god sent his son to do and is what we all do.
