Previously Klaus was the big bad one, but Shane may not have shown any supernatural powers up till now but he's been shown as an all knowing one while all others are busy searching for answers. Shane is pulling the strings: he is training Bonnie in 'Expression' (a form of magic even darker than black magic) and has managed to gain her confidence, is gathering up 12 un-sired hybrids... so is he planning a sacrifice of 12 most powerful supernatural creatures (hybrids who have the powers of a werewolf and a vampire) in some sort of ritual he wants to conduct with Bonnie's powers or are they going to be HIS army now?, and somehow the Hunters are supposed to fit into this equation too...
So is Shane the big bad who has old lost his powers and needs to awaken them or bring them back by this ritual. In last episode (Episode 8) he was retelling some story of a fallen warrior. Is he that powerful guy who is now powerless? Does he want to reawaken his DEAD side or his Dead Master?
