Ok, So I finished book 1 😆...
LJ Smith is one clever writer 😆... She's made it almost impossible to dislike Elena...
As soon as the book starts she shows us two different sides of her personality... First through her diary entry/inner thoughts, Elena's shown to be really vulnderable/still affected by her parents' death and then on the other hand she's shown as "the queen bee" of her school who is a little conceited/full of herself but you still can't not like her because of the way the book started 😆...
When Stefan turns up at school and ignores her... She sees him as a challenge because no-ones ever snubbed her, so why should he? But slowly that challenge turns to a sort of obsession for her and then to love for them both...
I love how she reacts when she realises he's Vampire... I mean up until then her love for Stefan has been shown as this great big thing...
So, I'm thinking she'll accept him no matter what... Which is probably why I was really glad and surprised that she reacted the way she did, when she saw him like that... It was such a... Real reaction...
When Stefan sees her and he changes back it's almost as if she realises that the Stefan she knows and loves is still underneath there somewhere and she wants to get to know both sides of him, man and "beast"...
Basically, what I guess I'm trying to say is that in the show Stefan is shown as Elena's saviour whereas in the book Elena's as much Stefan's saviour as he is hers...
I hope I'm making sense 😆... Or at least some of it did 😛...
