"Uh, what is it?" That was the first thing that made its way out of my mouth when Panchi showed me the white piece of paper. She shrugged in return, opening the door to her dorm. "KD just told me to give it to you." I took the paper from her hand and examined it. It was nothing special, just a half torn loose-leaf paper with some writing. The first thing I did before entering Panchi's dorm was read the note.

Meet me outside the chemistry room after you finish talking to Panchi.

I gawked at Panchi, staring at her in confusion. She shrugged again. "I'm going to go," I said, shoving the paper in my pocket. "Talk to you later?" "Okay, bye!" I turned around and started walking towards the staircase. I ran down the stairs and when I finally reached the outside part of the chemistry room, I was shocked to see that KD was already there. Of course he would already be here. He was the one that called me. I mentally slapped myself in the forehead for being stupid.

"Kiya," he said, as soon as he saw me. "You wanted to talk to me?" I raised my eyebrow in confusion. KD was leaning against the blue school wall. There was a bulletin board beside him, and a bunch of papers were hung up there. Ignoring my surroundings, I put my focus back on KD.

"What? You were the one who told me to come here," I replied, a bit astonished. KD raised his eyebrow this time. He was wearing a black shirt with blue faded jeans. His hair was messily done, but even though it was messy, it still looked mildly attractive. My eyes wandered to his lips. I had to resist the urge to kiss him. "No," he said, showing me a note on a torn white paper. "Panchi gave me this note. She said, you wrote it." "Wow, she gave me a paper too," I said, avoiding KD's gaze.

"Well, I guess I'll just leave then'" I turned around and started heading back towards the staircase. But half way there, KD grabbed my hand and spun me. My eyes widened as his body pressed against mine. I was pinned on the wall. "No, I want to talk to you," he whispered. Our faces were just inches apart. I felt KD's hot, minty breath on my face. I tried to ignore it but that was just impossible. Right there, I wished I could just forget everything. I wanted to forget the fact that I was in love with him. I just wanted to savor the moment, enjoying it while it lasted. But eventually, I pushed him off me.

"I'm sorry, Kiya," he said. "I'm sorry for telling you I didn't like you. We've been ignoring each other for an entire freaking week. And to be honest, it's been the worst week of my life'" I tried my best to pretend like I didn't care. I kept my eyes off of him. I was staring at the blue walls. They were so insipid, yet, they still managed to relax me.

"'You've been on my mind all damn week. Honestly, I think I'm falling in love with you too." KD pinned me on the wall again, causing me to let out a deep sigh. Then, he started inching his face closer to mine. When our faces were just millimeters apart, I pushed him back again. I couldn't let him do this to me. If he kissed me, I wouldn't be able to go back home. "I'm sorry," I said. "I'm going home this Friday. I don't want to get involved with you before that."

The words that came out of my mouth felt likes lies. But I had to do it. I had to do it for the betterment of me, and the betterment of him. He had a girlfriend. Even though she was a b****, she was my best friend. Sure, she took my boyfriend from me. But I didn't have the courage to take her boyfriend from her.

"Why?" KD asked his piercing eyes boring into my dull, lifeless ones. "I thought ' I don't know. I thought you were in love with me too?" "I am in love with you," I responded honestly. "But maybe there are more fish in the sea. KD, how could you have fallen in love with me after a week? That's weird, and impossible. And anyways, you have Diksha; I don't want to get in between you two."

KD rolled his eyes. He laughed for a brief moment. When I started gaping at him, he chuckled and spoke up. "Diksha got out of the way the day she decided to kiss my brother." My eyes widened, and my jaw hung open.

"What? Diksha kissed him? This year?" KD nodded his head. He sighed and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. "I can't believe you're best friends with her," he said. "You're can do so much better, Kiya." "I know," I replied, nodding my head. "I thought she was better than that, you know? But I don't know. I still don't want to let her '"

He interrupted me by crashing his lips into mine. My first instinct was to shove him off me and yell at him. But I didn't. I just stood there, puzzled. After a while, he pulled away. "You know, it's better if you kiss back," he said. "No," I whispered in return. "Don't kiss me like that!" I groaned in frustration and stared at KD. "It feels '"

He shut me up again by pressing his lips against mine. I wanted to push him back, but I suddenly found myself kissing back. Kissing KD I felt love. And it was the feeling of never wanting to let go. But eventually, I managed to pull away. My forehead was resting on his, and I was panting for breath. KD, however, seemed abnormally calm.

"I'm glad Panchi decided to play matchmaker," KD said as I smiled at our proximity. "I told you not to kiss me like that, KD," I mumbled, trying to shoot him a glare. "Shut up Chicklet. You know you liked it," he stated. For a brief moment, we didn't speak. It was the most comfortable silence ever. It didn't feel awkward.

"Can I confess something?" I asked, finally breaking our silence. My forehead was still resting on KD's. "Sure," he replied. "You have the prettiest smile I've ever seen." He immediately grinned, revealing those perfect white teeth. "Can I confess something too?" he asked, after a few minutes of silence. "Sure." "That smile only exists when I'm with you." The last thing I did was giggle. Then, I pulled him into another breathless kiss.

_________( a few days later)_______

I loaded my suitcase on the trunk of the car. Mark, my step dad, was sitting on the driver's seat, waiting patiently and silently for mom to arrive. I was standing calmly outside his car. It would be too awkward if I went in. It was already Friday morning. Yesterday, I spent the entire day with KD. It was amazing.

"So, Kiya, how is school coming along?" I cringed at the sound of his voice. He sounded so much like dad. His hair looked neatly combed. Mom's doing, I thought to myself. She probably made him comb his hair. I rolled my eyes at the thought. Back when mom and dad were together, my mom would force my dad to fix his hair. She always thought his hair was too 'precious' to let it go to waste. "It's fine," I responded.

"Oh, Kiya," Mark exclaimed. "You have some visitors." I turned around and stared at the school. Surely enough, KD and Panchi were coming over towards our direction. I jumped out of the car and gave them a little wave. "Hey guys," I mumbled. Panchi shouted. "You're going home and you didn't bother to call me?" I laughed and playfully hit her shoulder.

"I told you yesterday, Panchi," I started. "And anyways, I only live about ' three hours away from here. I will miss being here though." Panchi rolled her eyes. She took out a little box from her pocket. I gaped at her, but she shrugged in response, causing me to let out a sigh. "Here," she said, handing me the little box... "Happy early Christmas! Mom's picking me up tomorrow. I hope you have a good one." Panchi stopped talking and pulled me into a bone crushing hug. I hugged back, smiling as Panchi's grip around me tightened. She slowly pulled away and let out a deep, long, sigh.

"Okay, I'll leave you two to it," she said. "Bye Kiya!" "Panchi," I called out. "Check the box under your bed. You'll find something there!" As Panchi began walking away, KD started drawing closer. I smiled as he walked towards me. When our bodies were inches apart, KD stopped. Then, just like Panchi, he pulled me into a bone crushing hug. But his was firmer. It was stronger. This time, again, I hugged back. When we finally pulled away, KD pushed a strand of hair behind my ear. "I wish I would spend my Christmas with you," he told me. "I'm leaving today too, though."

"I don't really want to go either, KD," I replied. "But we'll see each other in, I guess, two weeks?"

"I want to kiss you right now," KD admitted. "But your stepdad over there is spying on us. He's trying to make it look like he isn't looking, but honestly, he's such a fail." I laughed as I turned around. Mark was staring at us, but as soon as he caught me looking at him, he turned back around. I giggled again as KD's warm hands met mine. For a short moment, we just stood there, devouring the silence.

"Kiya," a familiar feminine voice suddenly rang. "I have all your paperwork. It's time to go." I sighed as my mom got in the car. "I feel like crying right now," I honestly stated. KD nodded his head. "After you go, I'll probably be in the bathroom crying my eyes out." KD replied sarcastically. I playfully hit him on the chest.

"You're such a girl, KD." As KD started laughing, I pressed my lips against his. It wasn't a passionate kiss. It was just short and sweet. But despite the fact that it was just a peck, I felt tingles all over my body. When I pulled away, I rested my forehead on his. "I'm going to miss you so much," I whispered. KD pushed his lips into mine again.

"Shut up, Chicklet. I'll miss you more, you know that."

"Kiya! It's time to go. Get in the car," my mom shouted. "Bye KD," I mumbled. "Please, call me, text me, any time." KD gave me a weak smile. "You're my girlfriend," he said, rolling his eyes. "I have to call you even if I don't want to." I felt a gasp escape my lips. "I'm your girlfriend?" I questioned, raising my eyebrows. "Of course you are. Girlfriend," KD replied, a grin visible on his face. "Okay," I whispered. "Bye, boyfriend." I hugged him one last time before getting in the car. My heart did a flutter. I closed my eyes and clutched onto the bag that lay beside me. Christmas was definitely going to be interesting this year.

The things that would follow would surely not be a fair-tale cause life was never a dream. I and KD may have our usually tiffs but I know in the end we would always have each other to turn to. For now I wonder how I am going to spend this Christmas with my MOM and Mark.
