RV-KD OS - Picture Perfect Updt. Part 2 - Pg. 3 - Page 2

They both naturally skirted around the dance floor towards the bar, something they mostly did. The dance floor was never really the first place they'd go to anyway. Ordering a coke for himself and a red bull for KD, RV turned his back to the bartender, considering they were DDs for the night.

RV was humming the music as it faded to an end and the song changed. KD handed him his glass and took a sip from his can as RV started singing the new song.

"You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war. You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slamming the door. You and I get so damn dysfunctional, we stopped keeping score..."

"Shut up. You're awfully tone deaf!" KD scowled making RV wrinkle his nose and sing loudly and closely in his ear.

"So I cross my heart and I hope to die. That I'll only stay with you one more night. And I know I said it a million times. But I'll only stay with you one more night..." RV almost shouted in KD's ear in his awful bathroom singer voice.

"Fido!!" KD pushed him aside as he rubbed his ear trying to get his hearing back.

"God! Superman!!" RV rolled his eyes. "I'm telling you again, get a girlfriend. You need to lighten up!" RV said looking away as he scanned the floor for Panchi, but it was too thickly crowded to really make out the faces right when KD's phone next to his elbow buzzed. As he picked it up he grinned at the name of the sender of the message.

"Yo Superman... Baby sister's mishhing you!" RV chuckled as he passed KD the phone, who was busy chugging his red bull, making him roll his eyes.

"What does it say?" KD scowled as RV unlocked the phone and read his message to him.

"Bhai, heard you're at a party tonight. Click loads of pics!!" RV read it aloud and chuckled. "XOXO." He tried imitating a little girl's voice as he read it. But KD wasn't really listening. His attention had been distracted by a pretty looking girl that had just come to the bar to fetch a few drinks. They both eyed each other and RV suppressed a smile. "Let's send Juhi the dashing guy's picture. After all, girls are drooling over you tonight." He said as he stood in front of him with his phone's camera turned on. KD half heartedly picked up his can as a salute and smiled while RV clicked.

"Let's send her a picture of his favourite dog's avatar of the night too." KD said as he pulled RV from his collar and exchanged places with him. "Come on Tommy, say bones!" KD chortled while RV gave a forced toothy grin. Don't be mistaken, they both love KD's kid sister Juhi, but she had an annoying habit of getting under their nerves with her FB-craziness, camera-obsession and a few other things. Also she loved her brother to an extent of finding the guys' close friendship frustratingly questionable.

"Yeah right. Let's give her one of the two dogs together." RV said as he pulled KD and kept a hand on his shoulder as KD tried to click a picture of them with the phone's frontal camera. Right when KD was busy making sure that the picture was alright, RV grinned and suddenly planted a kiss on KD's cheek precisely when the camera clicked. With KD's eyes still bulging out with the horror of what had just happened, RV snatched the phone from him.

"What the hell was that?" KD asked baffled.

"That my dear future lawyer, is a scandalous self incriminating evidence to sustain your little sister's huge doubt on us." RV said with a wink.

"You're not sending that to her!" KD showed him a loosely formed fist warning him.

"Chill. I'm not." RV laughed as he kept the phone down. That was the reason Juhi found their "brotherhood" frustrating. She always had the doubt that the two guys were dating and were closet gays. It made her feel that her brother was keeping the biggest thing in his life a secret from her. Well... as RV always said, poor delusional girl.

Kiya directly marched to the center of the dance floor ditching her own date of the evening. She knew she'll find Panchi there dancing with some guy or the other.

"Need to talk to you." She said in her ear. Looking at her best friend's mad grin Panchi knew she just couldn't hold whatever it was and nodded.

"It was great dancing with you." She said in her partner's ear and winked at him as she followed Kiya off the floor.

"Who was that?" Kiya asked as they neared the bar to get themselves drinks.

"Dunno." Panchi shrugged as she ordered, making Kiya chuckle. "So what did you want to talk about?" Panchi asked as she took a gulp of her beer.

"You owe me a grand." Kiya grinned from ear to ear. "You lost the bet!"

"What do you mean?" Panchi asked baffled.

"Those guys... That charming Literature major and the Athlete Law Student... I was right, they're gay!!" Kiya almost jumped with glee, sipping her red wine to stop her jaw from aching with the wide smile.

"I don't believe it!!"

"They entered as a gay couple. I was right behind them. Almost created a scenes babbling about their rights and stuff..." Kiya rolled her eyes and looked around.

"Honestly, those guys are too smart. That can be an excuse to get in..." Panchi shrugged.

"Are you sure?" Kiya said as she pointed at the other end of the bar where the two boys stood clicking pictures. Panchi's jaw fell to the ground when she saw RV kissing KD on the cheek.

"But.. but people in college always said he had a thing for me. I was sure he liked me... I..." Panchi was babbling more to herself than to anyone else.

"Panch..."

"Every time I'd look at him in the lab. He had this look in his eyes... I mean..." Panchi was still in shock.

"Maybe he's Bi then..." Kiya made a face trying hard not to giggle.

"K! Shut up!" Panchi gave her a light whack on her arm and left.

"Hey, where are you going?!" Kiya called after her.

"I... just need some time to clear my head." Panchi said looking back at her friend, her expression almost distraught. Kiya gave an understanding nod.

"Take this, you'll need it." Kiya passed her half finished bottle of beer. "I'll be right here..." She smiled as Panchi took the bottle and left.

"So what are you going to do... As in when you find her?" KD had moved on to RV's half empty glass of coke that he had discarded in anxiety.

"Huh?" RV was distracted by the face he had finally found after a lot of searching. KD followed his gaze and saw Panchi walking towards the completely empty mezzanine lounge.

"Just go already!!" KD gave RV a shove in that direction and he looked up at his best-friend questioningly. "GO!!" RV smiled at him and mouthed thanks before bounding towards the staircase.

He saw her standing next to the railing resting the beer bottle on the slender ledge as she looked down at the crowded dance floor. Seeing her standing there, he stopped on the last stair and leaned against the wall, breathing in her sight. People called her a lot of different things, beautiful, gorgeous, arrogant, sexy... but all he ever thought when he saw her was - perfect. From her self confidence, to her childishness, from her good looks to her always minimal makeup clad natural face.

"Hi." He said as he neared her. She looked up startled, his arrival breaking the trail of her thoughts. She looked over her shoulder and saw him walking towards her. The lounge was empty except for them, it was too early for people to drop dead from heavy dancing and drag their drained bodies up her to relax.

"Hi." She replied with a smile and went back to looking at the crowded dance floor, nowhere in particular.

"You alright?" He asked, standing a little away from her near the railing. He looked down at the bar where he left KD standing. He was now busy talking to the girl who had sized him up a little while ago.

"Ummm... Yeah I'm fine." Panchi did not wish to reveal anything, especially not that she knew about the two of them. It would be something very personal to be discussed with a stranger for him.

"You don't look so?" RV looked sideways at her. She took a gulp from her almost empty bottle of beer.

"Huh?" She looked up at him confused.

"You're silent, standing away from the crowd, gazing into the oblivion. That's not like you..." he smiled, making her smile with him.

"I'm not feeling like dancing tonight."

"That's why I asked if you're alright..."

"Hmmm." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "It's just, not really heartbreak, I mean I don't even know him that well, but it hurts." She saw him raise his brows, confused. "I like this guy, for some time now. I just came to know he's dating someone." Panchi sighed.

RV blinked his eyes to come to him senses. He felt like something had crashed inside him, and the shards were piercing every part of his flesh. Panchi looked him, the pained look on his face and wondered if he had realized that she was talking about him.

"Did you talk to him?" His voice comes out as a squeak. He clears his throat and finds her looking at him. "I mean, what if he doesn't really like the girl he's dating. People date other people, but that doesn't mean that they're meant to be together. And at time what you see is not always true. What if he's even not dating that girl..." RV thought he was blabbering, he was. But somehow, between the two of them, it was making all the sense in the world.

"Tell me one thing..." Panchi looked straight at him. "Would you leave your girlfriend, if I told you that I liked you?"

"If I had even the slightest hint, that you liked me..." He smiled lightly. "And I had the same feelings for you. I wouldn't have a girlfriend in the first place." Panchi nodded, she got her answer. It felt better now.

"Thanks for helpin..." Panchi smiled and walked away.

"Panchi..." He held her wrist stopping her, before she could go far away from him again. "Can I get something in return for helping you?" He asked and she nodded. "Can you tell me the name, the name of the guy you like so much?"

"I can't..." She began to say but he didn't let go of her hand.

"Please..."

"It'll hurt you..." She looked up at his face, her eyes tearing. RV had a look of surprise on his face, wondering if she knows that he likes her.

"I don't mind the hurt." He tried smiling. "Tell me."

"It's you..." She looked at him with an expression that's pleading with all her heart for forgiveness. It takes some time for the words to sink in to him. It seemed as if the words changed by the time they fell on his ears, he was sure of that. He was sure she was going to name someone from their university, probably another medical student like her.

"ME?" His head jerked up, he hadn't realized that he had began staring at the floorboard not having the strength to look at her face. He saw her nod her head lightly. "But you said the guy you like, is dating someone..." He was sure that this was some puzzle even KD in his right mind could not solve.

"I... ummm..." She tried to form the words as subtly as possible. "I saw you and KD at the bar sometime ago... You kissing him." RV didn't even hear her complete her sentence before he bound up laughing.

"What?" She scowled at him laughing at her.

"I..." He held himself trying not to laugh. "I wish Superman wasn't so irresistible. Then I'd stay away from him and people won't think I'm gay." She looked even more confused. He pulled her towards him. "I love him..." She looked down, trying to put some distance between them. It wasn't what she had stopped to listen to.

"I need to go..." He held her even tighter in his arms.

"But I love you way way more." Her eyes shot up at his face in astonishment. "Maybe someday you'll realize the difference..." She chuckled and threw herself into his arm, hugging him as tight as possible.

"Me too..." she whispered into him.

"I honestly think that guy is bisexual... he cheating on both of you." Kiya came and stood next to KD. KD who was busy clicking a picture of the happy couple in the cosy embrace, scowled. He sent the picture to RV, with a text - 'Congratulations Bozo. Now get her ASAP... get your girlfriend too. Her best friend's eating my brains!'

RV fished out his phone from his pocket as he broke the hug. He rolled his eyes as he read the text he just received. Looking down at his best friend being tortured by Kiya's incessant blabbering, he raised his hands dejectedly as if to ask him 'what the hell now?'. KD looked back at him, rolling his eyes and motioned him to come down.

"Can't you see I'm busy here!" He texted KD back. Panchi looked at this exchange with utter amusement.

"Shut up Loverboy... I'm in trouble here!" KD replied quickly making RV smack his head.

"What happened?" Panchi asked holding his hand.

"Need to rescue Superman..." RV said rolling his eyes as Panchi giggled while he dragged her downstairs with him. "Honestly man you couldn't stay without me for a few minutes..." KD could hear him from far away as he shouted from the last stair.

I know the end was little abrupt but I didn't wish to drag it.

Sorry for taking so much time. As planned earlier, i did not finish it that day.

I have another story idea in store, along the lines of this story itself. I'm beginning to call it the "Sheru-Superman Verse". If I write that one, I'll update it here itself. But it will not be in continuity with this.

If you find any errors, grammatical or otherwise, please forgive me, i'm not in my right mind right now, got a blocked nose than making my cranky.
