Not seen the show -- But people from UP especially in the Meerut-Lucknow belt, use it liberally to show their frustration with anything and everything they consider imbecile.

I love the word too! It is accurate without being too demeaning. And as your examples show - versatile in meaning/usage -- cheap, horrible, bad, childish, or just plain bad. 😆😆
