After the morning kand, Simran had gone to spend time with Daarji and Bebe. Angad saw Sahiba tensed, and led her by the hand to their room.
“Sahiba, what’s wrong?” Angad questioned.
“Angad, please close the door. I need to talk to you about something since last night.” Sahiba truthfully answered.
“Alright, fine baba” Angad went to close the door. As soon as he was closing the doors, Seerat appeared.
“Angad, door band kar rahe ho? Kya hua?” Seerat was trying to find a way to get in.
“I need to do something, and can’t be disturbed. If you need anything, please ask Veer.” Angad hurriedly slammed the door in her face.
Sahiba having heard Seerat’s voice was bracing for Seerat to barge in. Thankfully Angad ko thodi akal aa gayi hai- she thought to herself.
“Haan batao ab. Bal bal Seerat se bacha hoon.” Angad said.
“Angad pehle baith jaao.” Sahiba led Angad to the bed.
“Sahiba, what happened? Why are you so worried?” Angad said.
“Angad, our relationship is based on trust. Rabb knows I have never done anything to lose your trust. I have never been disloyal to you. I hold my wedding vows sacred.” Sahiba was almost in tears as she spoke.
“Kya hua Sahiba?” Angad became alarmed and he held sahiba as he gestured to her to sit next to him.
“Angad you know that I didn’t know Simran’s father when we met her. Rabb Di sao Angad, I only found out about her father yesterday evening. Since I’ve found out, I’ve been restless. There’s a dharm sankat in my mind. I don’t know how to face you and Manveer Ma’am.” Sahiba cried.
“What do you mean Sahiba? Who is Simran's father?” Angad asked.
“Angad you need to promise me, you will not do anything rash, and stay quiet until the right time.” Sahiba took his hand to her head, urging him to promise her.
Then Sahiba recounted to Angad the whole tale of she was waiting for Simran to be done with the washroom when Inder came and told her his sordid past, and pleaded her to not tell Angad or Manveer, saying that it should come from him.
“Angad. I don’t know when he will tell you, but it’s morally wrong for me to hide anything from you. Especially something this massive. Angad, you’re my husband, and I don’t want you to be hurt in any way, because it pains me as well. I respect our relationship and our vows. I don’t know how to proceed. I didn’t want this to come as a shock to you the way it came to me from your father.” Sahiba wiped Angad’s tears of disappointment.
“Sahiba, I honestly don’t know what to say. I’m lost. Mumma would be devastated. She’s already bitter. I don’t know how she will take this. My absent father was having dandilliances when I was around 17-18? I feel ashamed of myself at this point to be related to someone so mentally weak.” Angad said in his fury.
“Angad, your father is at fault. You, Manveer Ma’am and Simran are the victims here.” Sahiba responded logically. She hoped that Angad wouldn’t turn cold towards Simran. What was her fault?
“Thank you for letting me know, Sahiba. I appreciate you not keeping mum, and me having to find out in a more unpleasant manner. Simran is not at fault. I need to think how to handle Mumma now. Thanks for having trust.” Angad spoke.
“Angad, I could never hurt you, nor would I ever want to.” Sahiba spoke, giving him a hug.
Both husband and wife needed the hug to feel comforted and feel secure; that they were watching out for one another. That their marriage was as real and normal as any other marriage, and they actually cared deeply for each other even if they never admitted.
