Toh Maang Loon Tere Liye, Tere Liye, Tere Liye,
Tere Liye...😍
Girls and guys...for God's sake if you're reading this update without having watched the episode, then I have a warning for you: this update cannot match the toenail of the choti ungli of this episode's left foot! 😆 Please watch the episode...it's an experience of a lifetime, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY what I - or anyone else - will write can match up!! Thank you CVs...👏 You've done a beyond-gorgeous job today, if this is the way you keep going, there is virtually nothing that can stop TL from being No. 1!
People...not only was the wedding leaps and bounds beyond our expectations, the CVs gave us a bonus treat - Pagal Onu!!!!
And btw...now all of us can breathe in breathe out...and with full haq say:
ONU TAANI KA PATI HAIN!! 🥳
Now...without much ado...I will update you on one of the best weddings on TV ever...😃😃
Recap (16/02/2011)
Not much...wedding preps are still on, Taani ensures that TapLi patch up, Robi sees this and is angry.
Short Update
1. TaAnu and RoNaki get married...TaAnu remember ALL their special moments from childhood onwards while performing the rasms! 😳
2. Back to present, where Taani celebrates their wedding anniversary with Onu, bringing cake and lots of tears. Once she has put Onu to sleep, the warden asks her whether they were able to celebrate their wedding night. Taani says no! Viewers gasp! (Sorry...couldn't stop myself from saying that last bit...😆)
Detailed Update (17/02/2011):
Taani and Jonaki are now seated and being given various compliments by the older ladies around them, who exclaim that Shekhar and Neelu are terrifically lucky, for not one, but two Lakshmis are entering their household (Riiiiight...ladies, better make it one only...the other one appears and acts a lot like Shoorpanakha 😡) They also bless the girls. Taani smiles, but happens to glance at Jonaki, and remembers her words: "Both of us have the stay together under the same roof. Make sure you mind your own business and not interfere in mine or Robi's life". Jonaki is still glaring at Taani, for God knows what reason.
Taposh and Mauli arrive with the piri, and Mauli announces that it is now time for Taani and Jonaki to proceed towards the mandap. As Taani seats herself on the piri, TapLi share a silent romantic moment 😊 with Taani looking on, satisfied (Gah! TAANI! It's YOUR wedding! CONCENTRATE!!) Mauli then gives her the traditional betel leaves to cover her face, and Taposh lifts her piri.
The scene now shifts to Onu and Robi arriving at the mandap (on my favourite wedding bg, a lovely pulsating wedding shehnai instrumental...😃😃) led by Shekhar. Laboni and Thakoma are at the mandap already, and Laboni nazar utharofies and kisses him (actually I thought Laboni wouldn't be there because I thought ki according to Bengali tradition the mothers of both the bride and groom cannot attend the wedding - which was why Neelu ended up going back home after dropping off the boys and having that lovely eyelock conversation with Laboni...khair, I'm glad Laboni is there, she gives it that much-needed fun element!)
NOW the fun part begins...Taani is brought to the mandap, her lovely glowing face covered with betel leaves, stopping only in front of Onu, who is every bit the dulhe raja ☺️ He gazes lovingly at her, and remembers their very first wedding, and how hurt and confused Taani looked. As the men proceed to move Taani around Onu seven times, he recalls how choti Taani had refused vehemantly to marry him (My Goddd...what memories! "Motu! 99 kgs! Mujhe nahi karni yeh shaadi!") At the same time, Taani smiles behind the leaves, remembering how motu had also refused to marry her. Finally, she is brought back in front of Onu, the huge veil covering the bride and groom is lifted, and Taani slowly parts the leaves to reveal her face to Onu (somehow when she did this I started remembering HC singing "Dekho Chaand Aaya, Chaand Nazar Aaya" to APK from the Diwali Dilon Ki dance 🤣) In the background one can hear the traditional 'ulu ulu' of the women, and Taani and Onu exchange an eyelock, both recalling how choti Taani had once tiold him that even though they're married, Onu can always tell Taani if he loves someone else, and she will help him break it (No Taani dearest...finally he helped you make it! 🤣), and when Onu and Taani both tell each other that they don't accept the marriage.
TaAnu then exchange varmalas (at this point, the TL groupsing bg plays...ahh the effect is magical people...imagine: TaAnu eyelock + shaadi + TL bg = DHAMAKA...) Taani and Onu exchange malas, and can't hear to take their eyes off each other...😳
Part II
Mauli gets her lost spunk back (remember how energetic and chirpy Mauli used to be post-leap? Well, we get a welcome return to that for today!) and says, Hey Taani! Refuse now if you can, otherwise don't come to me later complaining that we never gave you a chance! Taani blushes, still not taking her eyes off Onu (Nor are we, Taani sweetheart, nor are we...🤣) Laboni and Shekhar remember how Taani and Onu ran away from the mandap the first time, and laugh at how they're happy to be bound together forever now...(For the first time Bhopu Volcano is SMILING!! 😆)
Onu gazes romantically at Taani (with Kailash Kher's TL bg playing...hayyeeeee!!!) and together both look back at the time Onu first realised he loved Taani (when he gave her the letter) and Taani remembers arguing with him as a child...Taani then silently says, Motu, couldn't you have just told me? Onu smiles back, saying just as silently, Tum bhi kitna akadrahi thi! Couldn't you have told me about your feelings too? Both of them remember how they had promised, after the summer camp incident, that they will continue their friendship no matter what people say about them, and that they will always be there for each other 😳😃 Onu then looks at the orange-red sari Taani is wearing and smiles, knowing that she wore it because it's his favourite colour (FB: Onu tells Taani to wear orange -- orange makes her look even more beautiful...😳), as well as the time when he opens the window of the school bus so that her hair can fly in the wind...all the times Taani gave him kulfis...her gifting of the laughing buddha...their first meeting at the waterfall...Onu smiles all these memories as, at the background, Mauli talks of how in childhood they had always faught with each other, and now they have a life full of love ahead of them ⭐️
Later, Onu and Taani sit facing each other in front of the fire. Taposh puts binds Onu and Taani's hands together for a ritual that I think is called sampradhan, kisses her on the forehead and leaves, and both remember Onu guarding Taani against the rain in his umbrella. This is the eyelock exchange they share here:
Taani: We loved each other, even then...otherwise why would you work so hard in a pizza parlour to get me a sari?
Onu: You were no less...you got my father to attend the play, knowing how it would help me gain confidence.
Taani: You had crossed every level of friendship Onu, the moment you took the accusation of the accident I caused on your head...
Onu: And you, when you saw how much I suffered and took yourself to the police instead...
Taani: Jo bhi kiya, sirf...tere liye (I can't bear to translate this line into English...😍)
Onu: Haan, sirf...tere liye ❤️
FB of chota TaAnu's last meeting, and Onu placing the angel in Taani's hand...and then Onu's smiling face. Taani looks slightly emotional at this point, almost as if she was thinking...yes, my angel did return to me in the end 😍
Part III
The scene shifts to Robi's wedding. Both look very much like the cats who got the cream. They exchange varmalas as Shekhar, Shumona (she's here too 😲 even thought she's not supposed to be there as per the rasm na?) and her husband. Shekhar is now paying his full attention to Robi's shaadi while Laboni takes care of TaAnu's, who are now putting ghee in the sacred fire (at this point, it's KDMHMD bg music playing...I've noticed that it's played only twice before - both times with relation to marriage...I do love that the shloka at the end of it, I'm glad they used it here). Both TaAnu and RoNaki are now taking pheras, and then perform the anjali together, where they make an offering of rice to the fire (Robi keeps himself at a respectable distance from Jonaki during this ceremony, and TaAnu are standing so close to each other that Onu's nose almost buried in her hair...😳)
The sacred fire fades into the darkness that is the present, and at this moment Taani lights a candle, placing it on a lovely strawberry-sauce covered cream and chocolate cake, while it rains outside. Taani looks at him and says...Onu, remember...today is our wedding anniversary. Pagal Onu looks blankly at the cake, and Taani cuts it, feeding him pieces. She says, we waited our whole lives for this day, and (here her voice grows heavy with tears😭) how did you forget this day? Weeping, she feeds him more cake...as Onu eats it, the camera pans to 'I Love You' scrawled on the wall...(I think it's been a few months since, because Onu seems to be responding positively to Taani's touch...he does not push her hand away as he used to...😊)
After putting Onu to sleep, she goes back to sit next to the warden. The warden is, like us, a TaAnu fan and is literally waiting to get the rest of the story. Taani tells Warden Aunty that the pheras took place and the marriage was sanctified. The warden then says, aur phir...suhaag raat? (Lol...I was literally dancing over WA's head waiting for the answer!😆) Taani says no, and then says, but we performed a few rasms that showed us that we were no longer just best friends...we were husband and wife, bound forever...(People...I'm sure by no, she meant no we didn't have suhaag raat that night, it was kal ratri...😆😆)
Episode Rating: 1,000,000,000,000,000/10!
