Well i'm a pakistani, and i moved to canada 8 years ago live....but i completely agree with you! i don't understand why we're shown to be so white-washed and "modernized"....i mean i will never ever dare to be in a live-in relationship! not because of my parents' strictness, but because of my morals, my values, my culture, and of course my religion! and in nupur's case...i really don't understand why she's living with onu! isn't her dad super rich?!!? so why doesn't she simply live in her own house in india!!?!? and i'm surprised that shekhar and neelu of all people are okay with nupur living in their house without a proper commitment to onu!!!

this typical stereotype of NRI's and NRP's (if NRP even makes sense...LMAO) really bothers me! even after living in canada, i'm still less westernized than my cousins who've been living in pakistan all their life! and what was that whole junk from nupur about meeting each other american style???!? i just felt that was sooo unnecessary, and that it made her sound sooo extra!
i'm glad you opened this topic tho....its a healthy and interesting topic to discuss :)

hahahaha
I was watching Zee...and in it, the director of CROOK mentioned the same thing, how NRIs (girls especially) are shown to be totally white-washed/modernised etc etc...and he was like, when he went there and observed, that actually was NOT the case. He was like, "I reckon that they kept more of their culture than the people here in India"
Totally spot on! If only more people would take his cue!
