So I saw Shekar hit my beloved ONU day before yesterday (We are 2 weeks behind in the US la la land), and like any ANU/ONU fan I was aghast. But I must say the creatives are doing a fabulous job in giving each character complicated layers.
OK so back to my point, Daddy Shekar is not a bad guy he is just stern, he is not heartless juts an Alpha Male. Think about it, he built up his business empire out of nothing that means that he has tremendous Zeal and ambition and he is frustrated when he sees that the things he worked for his entire life means nothing to his kids. But I did see the love for his child in him and the realization of his mistakes when Nilo mom explained why ONU was right and why he deserves to continue to work. If Shekar DAD was a pompous jerk he would've argued with Nilo Mom yet he gave in, and realized that ONU is doing the right thing.
Similarly, he gave in to Tanni's plea to join in the show, because at the end of the day he want his kids to be happy. Of course he feels that love is expressed with material things instead of affection yet the guy's heart is in the right place.
More examples, the bribe that he gave to Ritesh to stay away from his daughter was not done to out right insult him or to accuse him, he was just protecting his daughter liked he see fit, he does think that money is the route to happiness. Similarly, by reading yesterday's update, he did give in to Ritesh and ananya's wedding, because he saw that Ritesh can make his daughter happy.
All in all Shekar dad is not a bad guy, he is a typical Alpha male, made to be Gruff on outside to succeed in life, but when he is explained others point of View, he realizes his mistakes its like his tube light gets turned on.
