I don't think this could be the case. Taani is dearest to Onu's parents and it's obvious that if her father died, that family wouldn't disown her. They would make sure she has a better and brighter future even if her dad is no more to see her success. Most importantly a dying father won't force his wish on his daughter; he will never get the girl married at 15 with someone *secretly* as if it's a crime just because he won't be alive to see it happening later. It seems rather cruel and unfair.

It could be something to do with Onu's kundali. Either Taani or Onu has some faults in their kundali and after a certain age it becomes life threatening. Maybe Taani's constant presence in his life will help him through and get an extension every time. This is why the marriage was kept secret so people don't say that Taani was nothing but life support system for Onu? Even the title track says the same " is duniya mein jaan gava doon,
us duniya mein hasil karloon.." There is a hint of sorts that one is all set to give everything for the other, that everything here is marrying him to save him.

I also think it has something to do with the Kundali. The serial has a West Bengal touch - There are many examples of sacrifice in Rabindra Naths' and Sarathchandra's stories - which makes 'Teri Liye' very special.
If the producer, writer and director get's everything right , then this could be an excellent serial - very educational giving a positive message to the society.
Will keep our fingers crossed - " Same relationship, new thoughts/ approach".
