I totally get what you are saying. the face change is like the biggest deal and that was a big factor for me in terms of seeing the play when it tours US but I think for me th eighth story is separate form the series. just like all he additional tidbits on potter more are different then the story, this story and play is a bit different for me.

I wouldn't want HP to be turned int a TV series now. At least wait for the generation that grew up with it to age.
