Kunj sauntered into the Sarna house with an exuberant smile. For some reason, he was in a rather good mood. Perhaps it had something to do with how his wife has sent him the sweetest note with his lunch or maybe because of the rose he'd received this morning from her. It seemed these day's his smile was a permanent feature. Kunj's friends had asked him why but he himself had no answer to such a complicated question. Many things had caused his happiness and he wasn't quite sure what exactly of those had kept the smile stuck on his face. Though he suspected, it had more than a little do with Twinkle. With the same smile still plastered over his face, he made his way to the dinner table. Kunj was about to sit down, when he felt something missing. There was no sound coming from the kitchen, nor had he seen Twinkle yet. Worry seeped into his brain and his heart. Where had she disappeared to? Picking his bag back up, he made his way up the staircase.
"Twinkle," Kunj called but received no reply. He was met with the sound of silence. His parent and Bebe weren't home. They'd left for a wedding in Mumbai. Off course they'd asked Kunj to go along but he had politely refused. His brother and sister-in-law had chosen to go though. They'd left Ishaan but he was most likely sleeping. Kunj cursed himself for shouting. He could've possibly woken Ishaan up but he hope not. If Twinkle figured it out, he was done for. Then again, first he'd have to find Twinkle off course. This girl, Kunj though, why can't she ever stop creating siyappas? As he neared the door, the soft sound of crying immediately caught his ears. The worry in his chest turned into panic. Immediately he swung open the door to be met with a rather peculiar sight. Twinkle was curled up in their bed with a computer in front of her and tissues spread around. Her eyes, glued to the screen, were red and blotchy from extensive amounts of crying. Kunj sighed, as he tried to catch a glimpse of what she watching.
"Twinkle," he said softly but she paid no heed.
"Twinkle," he tried again, his voice a bit louder.
"Twinkle," Kunj finally shouted, gaining her attention.
"Sshh!" Twinkle glared at him, before turning her focus back to the film playing. Kunj rolled her eyes and headed from the bathroom. When he returned, he found Twinkle in the same position as before. Her eyes were even redder and the pile of tissues seemed to have grown larger. He groaned before pulling himself over to join her.
"TITANIC?!?" he screeched. Twinkle shot his a murderous glare.
"Haan. Ab chup karo," she said threatening. Kunj did as he was told but only for a few seconds.
"Tur ro kyun rahi hain? Sad part toh shuru bhi nahi hua, " Kunj stated matter-of-factly. God knew how many times Twinkle had made him watch this movies. He had it memorized scene for scene now. What was even more impressive was that Twinkle had it memorized word for word. Yet she still watched it. In fact, she had a ritiual of watching Ttitanic at least once ever fortnight. Usually she'd drag Kunj with her but obviously today' she couldn't wait to have her does of crying.
"Read ho rahi hun," Twinkle answer, second to late. Kunj looked at her in exasperation. His wife really was the 8th wonder of the world. Moment past and Kunj stretched his legs out. Twinkle leaned back against him, as he spread his arms out. Her head seemed to just fit naturally, into the crook of his neck. Kunj smiled, before gently pecking her forehead. He saw Twinkle smile at the sudden gesture. 10-20 minutes past and Kunj knew the ending was arriving. Twinkle had almost began sobbing. His shirt was marked with tears satins but he couldn't care less. Just the feeling of her body pressed into his was enough for him. One the screen Leonardo DiCaprio was now floating in the water.
"Oh not my Leo darling," Twinkle said, "he's too hot to die!"
"Excuse me?" Kunj said with a pointed with look.
"Chup Kunj. Let me enjoy my Leo," she said, snuggling closer to him. Kunj huffed. Did she think this stupid actor was hotter than him? Well if that was the case, he was going to have to do something. Then it happened. The dreaded moment that had every girl on the planet in tears. Twinkle was full on sobbing and Kunj himself was getting emotional. If something like this were to ever happen to him, he'd probably die. He couldn't imagine a life without Twinkle. A world without her would be lonely and colorless. As he hugged her closer to himself, he thanked the gods for giving him such an amazing life partner. Twinkle meant everything to him. She was his Rose but he was determined to have a happily ever after with her. There journey had just started and he didn't ever want it to stop. It was probably an hour later when Twinkle finally calmed down. He head was still pressed against Kunj's and they were just enjoying the silence when a small voice entered the room.
"Chachi, chachu," a sleepy Ishan stood in the middle of the door; a teddu clutched in one hand and the other hand infuriatingly rubbing his eyes, "main yahan so jaun?"
Kunj looked at Twinkle before getting up. He grabbed the laptop and placed it on the desk before walking towards Ishaan. With one swift movement, he lifted the little boy up.
"Off course. Chalo buddy. Aaj Ishaan chichi aur chachu ke beech soegi," Kunj said throwing him onto the bed. Ishaan giggled as Twinkle scooped him up in her arms. Kunj watched with admiration as Twinkle tucked Ishaan in, telling him a story as she did so. She looked so much at ease with him, it made his wonder what would happen when they had a little son or a daughter of their own. He wanted a daughter. One that looked like Twinkle. One that he could pamper and protect. One that would be a complete daddy's girl. Yes, that would be the life.
"Kunj tum vahan khare, khare kya kar rahe ho? Ao," Twinkle smiled up at him and Kunj grinned back. Slowly, as not to wake up the already sleeping Ishaan, he laid down facing Twinkle. Over Ishaan's small body, he found Twinkle's hand and gripped it. His other hand reached over to close the light.
"Twinkle," Kunj whispered softly.
"Hmmm," came the distant reply.
"I'll never let go," he whispered softly. In the darkness, her smile glowed. Twinkle held his hand tighter and Kunj squeezed it reassuringly. With their palms pressed against each other and thoughts of a bright future Twinkle and Kunj fell asleep, hoping for a happily ever after that consisted of nothing but the other.
