Chapter 6
The cave was dark, lit up only by a mere bonfire with a flickering flame. The walls were scratched with an inscription of Yuvi + Twinkle. Twinkle gulped as the severity of her surroundings. She knew Yuvi loved her but this seemed to go beyond that. Her eyes caught sight of a red dupatta and she gasped. He wasn't planning that was he? Her eyes darted around the cave, looking for him. Twinkle tried to calm down her raging nerves.
"Tumhe apna banane ka junoon, sar pe hai, kab se hai," Twinkle felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist from behind. The song was beautiful but nowadays Twinkle hated it. It reminded her that she was in captivity; that she no longer had control of her life. It was her own fault she was in this mess. If she hadn't been so hell-bent on making Kunj jealous, none of this would be happening.
"Yeh sab?" Twinkle asked, choosing her words carefully. Even the littlest thing seemed to set him off these days. Yuvi unclasped his arms and turned her around to face him. He had a devilish smirk on his face. Twinkle bit her lip. She had a bad feeling about all of this. His smile gave it all away,
"Kyun? Pasand nahi aaya mera surprise?" Yuvi asked, his eyes daring her to contradict him.
"Haan lekin voh mujhe Ku--" she stopped mid-sentence. The wrong words had already slipped her mouth. She saw Yuvi's eyes darken, at the mention of his name. Even after all this caution. Twinkle had once again awoken the monster inside of him. She took a step back, knowing that the close proximity wouldn't help her case.
"Yuvi--" she began but he cut her off immediately.
"Hamesha, Twinkle, hamesha main tere liye kuch karti hoon, toh tujhe uss Kunj se milne ka jaldi hoti hai," Yuvi said, inching closer. His eyes were flashing dangerously and in that moment Twinkle felt the most afraid she'd ever felt of him.
"Nahi voh hospital mein hai na, iss liye," Twinkle said, begging her tears not to fall. Suddenly Yuvi grabbed a hold of her hand. His grip tightened and Twinkle knew he'd probably left a mark.
"Yuvi chodo please. Mujhe dard ho raha hia," Twinkle said softly but Yuvi did the opposite. He held it even more ferociously.
"Dard? Dard tujhe ho raha? Aur mera dard ka kya Twinkle? Mera taklif ka kya," Yuvi's voice raised with each word. Twinkle closed her eyes but didn't cry. When she opened them, Yuvi's face was a centimeter away from hers.
"Kunj thik kehta tha tum bahut bure ho," she choked out, unsure where all this bravery was coming from. And it cost her. She fell to the ground with a bang, her cheek throbbing. The mark was distinct on her left cheek.
"Teri himmat kaise hui mujhe bura bolne ka," Yuvi's hand was raised again. Twinkle closed her eyes in anticipation, but no blow came. Instead the distant sound of a head hitting the floor echoed around the room. Cautiously, Twinkle opened her eyes to see her saviour.
"Kunj," she whispered softly. Her eyes drifted over to an unconscious Yuvi. There was no blood and Twinkle was glad for that. The sight of blood had always made her feel weird. She turned away from Yuvi to look at a livid Kunj. He put a hand out in front of her. As Twinkle took it, he hoisted her up up gently. The white bandage around his head immediately caught her attention and she remembered where he was actually supposed to be.
"Kunj tum yahan kya kar rahe ho. Tum--" it seemed like the world loved getting her cut off in the middle of a sentence.
"Kab se?" Kunj asked harshly.
"Kya kab se?" Twinkle asked playing dumb. She knew this conversation was coming, but she really badly wanted to delay it.
"Twinkle please. Please just bata de," Kunj asked, his voice filled with seriousness. Twinkle sighed and just looked at him.
"3 mahine pehle shuru hua," her revelation was faced with silence. Kunj's face showed no emotions and even his eyes failed to give Twinkle a clue of what he was thinking.
"Kuch toh bolo," Twinkle said softly. She rested an arm on his shoulder.
"Kya bolu Twinkle. Yeh ladka tere saath itne dino se aise harkat kara raha hai aur main kuch nahi kar paayi. Kya vada kiya tha tujhse Twinkle? Yeh hi na ki main tujhe hamesha protect karungi. Main fail ho gayi. Main fail ho gayi," Kunj fell to his knees, tears pooling at the corner of his eyes. Twinkle bent down next to him. Her arm encircled around him and she pulled him into her. She was full on crying now. Not once had she ever seen, Kunj so broken. He was sobbing himself. Holding onto her like, even if a gun was pointed to his head he wouldn't let go. Twinkle knew if that situation ever became reality, it'd be the truth. As they slowly untangled themselves from each other, Twinkle cupped Kunj's face. Gently she caressed it, wiping away the little tears. His arms were still wrapped around her waist and it gave Twinkle a sense of safeness. Actually that was what he was for her, a safe haven. A light, that she knew would always guide her way. In this world of only darkness deceit, he gave her hope. Somewhere in that moment, Twinkle felt something change in their equation. Her heart fluttered, how freaking cliche was that? Shaking her head of all these crazy thoughts she kept her attention on Kunj.
"Kya Mr. Khadoos Sarna. Aap kab itna rone lage?" she asked teasingly.
"Tujhe dard mein dekhti hoon na, toh aansu khud ba khud chale aate hai," Kunj said and saying that, he placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Tum mujhe hamesha protect nahi kar paoge Kunj," Twinkle said softly.
"Protection ka toh pata nahi, par tere saath dene ka vada toh kar sakti hoon na?" Kunj placed a hand in front of her. Twinkle smiled at the gesture and placed a hand against his.
"Pakka vada?" Twinkle asked.
"Pakka vada," Kunj promised.
Twinkle opened her eyes. She was standing by the stairs of the hotel, reliving the moment that had changed everything for her.
"Hamesha vala vada Kunj?" she repeated the lines that would've come, if she hadn't stopped dreaming. It was their special way; one of a few things that made them, them.
"Hamesha vala vada Twinkle," a voice replied from behind.
In this world where darkness rules,
Do you promise to be my light?
In this world where all else is let loose,
Do you promise to hold me tight?
In this world where there is nothing but hate,
Do you promise me the gift of love?
If that is all that you can promise.
Then my love that is promise enough.Thank you. I'm glad you liked it. 😊Originally posted by: adventure_gurl
