Kunj Sarna: Buried Alive

This is another thought that has been running through my mind. It was originally attached to my pondering of Twinkle that I entitled, "What Is She Thinking?" But as I was writing Kunj's section I found that they both went in opposite directions with different sentiments. Hence, I decided to break it off.

----

Then we have Kunj.

He hasn't been through a lot like Twinkle but he has been through two major traumatic events. The first although not physically traumatic, it could be labelled as psychological. The accusation of him being Twinkle's potential rapist is still hanging over his head like a black cloud. His relationship with Twinkle is strained as he is unable to convince her the truth. His own family refused to believe him so to have Twinkle to do the same is a long shot. But it does speak a lot about the amount of respect, authority and value he has in the family.

No one is in the position to do anything. Whether Kunj is innocent or guilty remains irrelevant as long as Manohar gets what he wants. Usha is the only one who cares for Kunj since he is the only one who has tried to stand up to his dad for her right. She knows his character inside and out and knows for a fact that he will never do such a despicable thing. As of right now, she is his anchor in not breaking down or lashing out onto everyone. He knows that if he does, he will undoubtedly be punished, but so will Usha. Manohar doesn't give a squat as along as Twinkle comes in the house. He doesn't even care if Twinkle herself is of a loose character. He just wants her, that's it. As for Anand and Nikki, they can try to voice out reason but they are silenced underneath Manohar's dictatorship. They have no voice in any respects.

This incident has left Kunj in a far worse position as now Manohar has absolutely no respect for him. He has been reduced from a son to a mechanism of obtaining his goals. He has no other purpose for him and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Manohar one day sells him off if it can profit Manohar in any way.

Kunj is not alive. He is merely living. He is living each day and watches it come and go without paying any attention to it. What is the point if all he has to offer is his sacrifices and his undying loyalty? He lets people use him to their own advantage because he has no purpose. He doesn't see anything that life has to offer him other than sorrow, misery and heartache.

The fact that he was buried alive is highly poetic. It is a clear indicator of how he is in real life being buried alive by the social responsibilities and burdens of others. He is trapped in a marital bond that he is not fully committed to. He is trapped in the domestic hierarchical order where he is placed at the bottom, giving him little to no authority whatsoever. He is trapped in a professional realm where his personal interests have no place. He is trapped by his morals and principles where he is consistently offering his assistance to everyone around him without getting any sort of appreciation in return.

He is not living for himself and nor are we seeing him indulge in personal hobbies or interests. Every single thing he has done thus far has been for others. While it is a moral thing, it is highly unhealthy as well. He is not being a human but rather taking on the personification of a moralistic idea and virtue. He is not establishing his own autonomy but rather giving others the permission to treat him as they wish as he won't say anything in return.

He is like a mindless zombie of some sorts. He is breathing, living, behaving and acting. But there is no personal motivation behind any of this. He has a heart but it is only acting in a biological fashion with no sentiments attached.

In some ways, Kunj Sarna is still buried alive.

Outstanding analysis Gurleen. Everything you wrote is so true.

Let Manohor be bankrupt soon. Then want Kunj to open his own business and live a life of his own.

gurleen - take a bow - so far we have been caught up in the rudeness of twinkle and the fact kunj takes it. We have seen the hurt he feels at the farmhouse accusation and now he handles it by ignoring it as NO ONE except his mom is on his side on this...

Reduced to a pawn in manohar's greed, he has lost his bearings.

is so true. This wedding is a journey for him too ... As we saw with anita he refused to leave home. But should things come to such a pass, he will leave ultimately for his personal respect and that of his wife. Then begins his real life as he steps out of the box he is figuratively buried in.

He holds values close to his heart and that makes him idealistic in how he interacts with others and gives others a long rope to hang them selves on. We saw with yuvi, he warned him many a time till the end, in the mandap where he tells him enogh is enough, she is my wife to be and shakes him up and hits him. Thats what will happen with manohar too when kunj reaches the end of the rope and has no Usha holding him back.

Thank you! 😳

Manohar needs to taste dirt before he can start appreciating it. 🤬 I remember I wrote a small snippet of how Kunj opens up a small garage and starts working as a mechanic. Obviously his dad won't support him but Twinkle does and eventually Kunj reaches to the point where he has earned himself a big name. It will be so great to see something like that happen.

Hehe, thank you! 😳

That's all that everyone is seeing. Twinkle's rudeness and Kunj silently taking it all in. But why are they acting the way they are is also very important.

I personally see that track happening in the future. There is no way that Kunj is going to sit back and let himself be insulted any further, that too on Twinkle's expense. By insulting Twinkle, they are insulting him as well. By mistreating her they are essentially saying that "oh look what we can do to your wife; we can do whatever we want and you can't do anything about it because no one is going to listen to you" 😳

Even if he does have Usha holding him back, I doubt he's going to. There will be a point where he's going to break and just want to leave that prison. His life is now with Twinkle's. Yes, he has a lot to owe to his family (birthing him, raising him, feeding, educating, sheltering etc.) but now he has to think of himself and his own family. When he falls in love with Twinkle, there is no way that he's going to let anyone speak negatively or treat her in a bad manner and let them get away with it.

I honestly have so much respect for the guy. Especially the way that he has carried himself thus far. But dude, Kunj needs to stand up for himself. We've seen him do that for his mom and Twinkle but he needs to start thinking about himself too. He can't let people walk all over him. The way I see it, him standing up for others won't amount to much if he can't do it for himself.

Waiting for the day when his better half is going to give him moral support so that he would become a stronger person in his own right.

The day Twinkle stands up for Kunj, I will bake a cake. I am dead serious about this. For Kunj to know that there is someone else out there (apart from his mom) who cares for him and is willing to stand by him, will mean SO much to him. The guy can't live off the emotional support of his mom for his whole life. He needs a companion of his equal.

More than Twinkle Manohar needs a reality check and open his eyes to see the worth of his son

Manohar needs a beating for his shitty parenting. I mean who behaves this way with their own child? As a parent, you're supposed to build THEIR future and make sure that your offspring prosper and do well as human beings. They're not some freaking banks that they will stop operating if they don't have money. They need warmth, love, companionship and support to help them get through tough times.

Kunj is a fab human specimen and let's hopefor his sorrows turning into laughter. Was really hoping to see Twinkle with her bubbly nature filling his life with rainbows
Nice analysis!

Kunj has such a light and funny side to him too though! It comes out in odd and heavy moments where he tries to uplift people's mood, but he still has it in him. He just wants to be a little carefree and.. happy! Great, now I'm about to cry over how he can't be happy. 🥺

brilliant gurleen is all i can say. completely agree with ur analysis of kunj still being buried alive figuratively.
honestly this post makes me want to curl up and cry for kunj. now i badly want some thing positive happens in the show for him.
All his life he has listened to taunts and insults of being bekaar.
i am amazed how he has still kept the goodness of his heart.
Manohars cheapness had the capability o make kunj a bitter man but he chose not to instead he decided he would be exact opposite of his dad and he chose kindness over bitterness says alot about his character and genuine goodness but i hope slowly as MU clears he gets the needed moral support from twinkle (i can dream) and finally stands up for himself. He also needs to grow up in terms of defending himself and not taking shit from his father anymore.
awesome post
