"Kunj, I'm so sorry about what I said about Alisha, I do care about your welfare, but I'm selfish and just wished you'd talk to me. Do you think you could forget whatever I said?"
Twinkle never got to hear his reply, because he was startled by he saw on the bench they were passing by. Twinkle scrunched her eyebrows in confusion- she had never seen this woman before.
"Kunj, who is she?" She asked in a low voice, then winced in the rememberance that he wouldn't reply. Not ever again.
"Alisha ki ma," he replied softly. Twinkle felt her heart beat a little faster, maybe he had forgiven her after all.
"Kunj, I-" she started, but was cut off what she heard next.
"Our daughter grown up to be quite shrewder than we imagined her to be," she chuckled," She's managed to trap that Kunj Sarna- he's head over heels and she could easily marry him now and live a life of luxury, but she won't settle with, no. She's planning to tear him away from his family and make him her slave, she's says 'Since I'm only going to be with him to use him, I might as well make the most of it as possible.' By God, we raised her well! Okay I'll talk to you later, bye." She hung up, and walked away, which was good anyway, because Kunj would need the support of that bench soon.
"Kunj." Twinkle's heart ached more and more when she saw each tear fall from his eyes. She took his arm and helped him sit down, her hand never leaving his.
"You know Twinkle, you weren't the first person to tell me what you said about Alisha," his voice barely above a whisper, " Once one of Alisha's friends came and told me the first time I was about to propose to Alisha. It was rumoured that girl had a crush on me so with a hopeful heart I ignored her and proposed to her anyway. But when you said it seemed so more valid and credible and that's what made me so angry before. I put you in the wrong because I wanted it to be that way, my logic for why you would do it didn't even make sense!" He said it with a bitter laugh. "I guess I can't deny it now, can I? Otherwise I'll be even madder in love than you were!," this made Twinkle smile. "But you deserve an apology, and my thanks, you were in only trying to be there for a friend,"
Twinkle squeezed his hand tight,"You've been there for me countless times, and even though you deny it, you saved me from the clutches of death, so I'm telling you now, I'm here for you, and I always will. Our friendship will always be something I cherish, Kunj."
This seemed to relax Kunj and he leaned his head on the back of the bench and as his eyes fluttered shut, he managed a gentle smile. Seeing his tension disappear as he fell asleep, Twinkle felt instantly more at ease. But just before he did, he uttered something so softly Twinkle wondered if he said it at all," Like I told you before, friendship is the basis of love."
