Kunj was sitting on a cot on top of the terrace. The cool breeze ran through the soft locks of his hair and cooled down the sweat and heat that had accumulated from the day.
He sighed and laid back down. He chuckled as he saw the sky littered with shiny stars. All of them twinkling brightly from so far away. He became mesmerized for a moment by how these stars were still able to provide their light from many million light years away. They were still able to guide them in the pitch darkness.
Kunj wasn't able to understand how but his mind had shifted towards Twinkle.
He didn't like the fact that they were lying to their parents about their marriage. But he couldn't think of any other way to say no. His father was going to force him into it no matter what he said. Kunj could just imagine his dad resorting to physical violence against either him or his mom to make the marriage work. Yeah it hurts when his dad hits him but he can take it. But when it comes to his mom, he absolutely can't. When his dad even says something negative against his mom, he feels like giving his dad a solid answer right then and there. But he's always stopped by his mom and he just doesn't know why.
Kunj is okay with living separately with his mom and has even told her so. But she simply refuses. He supposes it comes with the values and principles that she was brought up with. He doesn't agree with them.
He sees Twinkle a little like that. Silently accepting atrocities by her boyfriend. But she's a little different. She voices out when she's hurt and tells him that he should stop. But it's just no good. She still cries. She still gets her feelings hurt. she still goes back to him. Kunj had tried to make her see that she shouldn't have to suffer like this. But she had brushed him off saying he had no right to interfere in her personal matters. He figured she was right. But that didn't mean he didn't care.
Even if it is a fake relationship that they are getting themselves involved into, they are entering into something together. They are trusting each other to keep the other end of the deal and end the relationship when time came. It's taking a lot of gut from both their sides to maintain this deal. They are in effect, jeopardizing their relationships with every one they love. It's a high risk that they are taking, but as long as they're both taking it, Kunj is fine.
To be honest, Kunj hadn't expected Twinkle to be in love with someone else. When he had found out it came as both a surprise and a relief. But as he got to see the interaction between Twinkle and her boyfriend, he began doubting himself. Should he get himself involved and speak to Twinkle about her relationship again? What if she doesn't like it and gets really angry at him? He didn't want to do anything that will jeopardize their deal. But he also couldn't just sit back and watch Twinkle continuously hurt herself.
He had to do something.
He was going to do something.
