I watched the above episode online today. I was somewhat surprised that Anupama awarded Srilekha only 6 points in the Captains' Round, compared to the 10 points she gave Madhu (which was not unjustified, of course). Most of the other judges gave Sri at least 7 points.

Last week, Srilekha gave Anupama only 7 points and awarded Madhu 10 points. I'm just wondering whether Anupama was returning Sri the "favour" on 18 September by doing a tit for tat.

Anyhow, Madhu Balakrishnan gave another mind-blowing performance with his Minsara Kanna. His Kalaivaniyeh was also superb but I was totally floored by, absolutely in awe of, his Minsara Kanna. This guy needs a National Award, a Padmashri and other awards, which some lesser talents have obtained. And, AR Rahman, please take note of this singer. He has never sung under your baton though lesser talents have had that honour.

Thanks for the fast update Bon .. i haven't watched the episode yet .. anyways i don't want to miss Madhu's mind blowing performance .. This guy is so clever .. Always he picks a song sung by KJ Yesudas , for which his voice suits well 😉 .. Earlier i was under the impression tht he is KJY's son , before i saw one of Vijay Y's pic 😳 😆 .. Madhu , Always Rocks .. A gifted singer ..

Agree with you Bon .. he needs to be recognised in tamilnadu , but his talent is well known in Kerala ..

Last week Chinmayi said Vijay was unable to attend because of "thavirkamudiyatha karanangall". But she said he'd re-join in future. I thought he would only be absent for 2 episodes ((11 and 12 Sep) as two episodes are recorded back to back at one go. But he was also absent on the 18 Sep show (although I noticed that Srisha from his team was singing and dancing along with Usha Uthup in her opening number).

Maybe Vijay got cheesed off?

Smlaksh, Madhu has got a Tamilnadu State Film award and a Kalaimamani award. But, most music directors and producers seem to have typecast him as a classical singer and give him only classically-based numbers or title/sad songs like "Pichai Pathiram" and the occasional dapanguttu. Also, because he has a deep, powerful voice, they seem to think he can't sing for today's younger heros. Well, I myself didn't realise his versatility until I started scouring the net and listening to some of his soft, romantic melodies, such as "Sollitharava" (Majaa), "Attrai thingal" (Sivapathigaram), and "Yennathu uyireh" (1977). He sounds very different in those numbers and clearly has the ability to modulate his voice to suit the mood.

I'm with Madhu's team .. but am slightly worried as Srilekha's team is very strong .. Hope Madhu does some magic with his divine voice & wins the show 😳 .. Even if not for his team , Madhu deserves a victory .. Such a good team leader too 😃 ..

I am rooting for Madhu(Obviously) ('s team or not but him 😳). But I agree with Laksh that Srilekha's team the singers are very good.

I also expect they would have changed the format of the finals as to all of the team need to participate or some thing like that. Do you guys know if it is one day or two day finals? Also will it be the coming week end?

Oh ... stretching the excitement and anxiety.

Yes, I too hope Madhu's team wins, for Madhu's sake. But even if he loses, I think he's a gracious loser; he really comes across as someone of a very humble demeanour. Srilekha, on the other hand, looked as if she was ready to go on the warpath in the final round she had with Madhu's team last week. She has a stronger team than Madhu's. If they have a Captains' round, then Madhu's team has a strong chance. But they may well change the format, as Migan says. I presume they will also bring in additional judges, presumably not singers, to introduce some sense of impartiality.

May the best team win, and of course I am wishing Madhu luck and hoping to see more of his performances.
