A truly new and beautiful beginning! With the advent of a new life to enhance ones already so blessed by a love as pure as theirs, this child will be real start of a new chapter for a couple who have earned the right to bliss. And what bliss this was- the real involvement Sanskaar feels- one of the truly to be welcomed "new age" concepts if you like. A contrast to the now (rightfully) outdated world of fathers being mostly spectators particularly durning their wives pregnancies. But ofcourse Sanskaar was never going to be that husband or father. Give how his whole universe revolves around his Swara, the baby or later babies can only be a further extension of that love which truly would grow and multiply as shared and treasured. You managed to convey all that very tenderly and beautifully with this piece. I loved the story of the birds to show the allegory and then his conviction that it is a girl. Me somehow feels Papa is as usual right on this one too 😉

Sujata was simply hilarious- that touch of humour was perfectly balanced. Overall very nice work indeed!

Yes I'm so sure it's going to be papa's Shona too. Every father's wish no matter what era they are from is to have a baby girl walk into their lives. Yea they would love to have a son too.. But we, we are their invaluable treasure. And it makes me merry when I see these new era fathers, as you say, filled with so much care for their pregnant wives and unborn babies. Sanskar ofcourse would be one as such where his world obviously revolves around his swara. What wouldn't he want than a baby swara in his arms cooing at him as he calls her his Shona.

I'm happy that I was able to convey his yearning for a baby girl and that you my story had the effect I wanted.

Baya weavers are one of my favourite kind. they just are so wonderful that I kind of have an obsession about their breeding and courtship since I was kid. I just wanted to show how Sanskar stands different from the rest of the world not just as a lover and a husband but also as a father.

Nice to know that you like his childish acts when he himself was going to be a father soon.
Yea our dear to be father was miffed that swara gets to experience everything first. Somehow its lost on the intelligent husband that she was the one carrying the baby.
Yes ofcourse sanskar will always be fabulous in whatever role he place.
